Homosassa Springs Campground?

Does anyone know of a GOOD campground near Homosassa Springs? We plan to do some kayaking, but I want a GOOD clean campground to stay in.

The Rainbow River is great!! We have camped there twice and paddled the river 3 times!! It never disappoints us, we just wanted to try some new places. We did eat at the Blue Gator, also. I ate the steamed shrimp and they were great.

We stay at Rock Crusher for the winter, last year for 4 months and will again this year. Yes, there are a lot of Michiganders there, but plenty of Canadians and folks from all over too. The reason we liked it from our first visit 4 years ago was that it reminded us of a state park, plenty of vegetation and privacy between most sites. Lots of good people there. BTW, it's in Crystal River, not Crystal Springs, although there are a lot of springs in the area.

We visited Chassahowitzka River Campground to check it out and found it a bit tight in spots. It's not far off US19 and right on the river. Be sure to check out Old Homosassa where the Freezer and The Shed are. Not fancy eateries by a long shot, but fun and right on the river. The Olde Mill Tavern has decent food too.

I've seen a map of a paddle route through the area if you're looking for paddle locations. There are plenty along the coastal waters.

PS: Another great location for kayaking would be a bit NE from Crystal River/Homosassa Springs in Dunnellon. The Rainbow River is a spring fed river and great for kayaking. Access can be made just east of town and at the state park there. Good food at the Blue Gator in town right on the Withlacoochee River. Swampy's Bar & Grill is right on the Rainbow River where the road intersects the river. You can put in there too.

A buddy of mine told me that this is a wonderful campground in the weekdays, it can get a little loud on the weekends, lots of locals enjoying themselves but over all nice. If you like state campgrounds you should like this place

We stayed at Lake Rousseau RV park. Very friendly,quiet, has a ramp to the lake and the pool is great.About 20 mins to Homosassa SP

Go to Chazz. it's certainly not a resort but may be what you want.

We have visited the Wildlife park and loved it. We are going again this trip.

Strange..I know I responded earlier today, but it's not here, so guess I'll post again. We stayed at Rock Crusher about 3-4 years ago, and it was a good place. I know you didn't ask, but Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is worth going to and be sure to eat at the Freezer Tiki Hut for awesome steamed shrimp.

We were there late Jan 2016. There are a lot of repeat snowbirds there, mostly from Michigan, so I guess it's probably a little cliquey, but the transient sites are private so you don't need to deal with the residents. There is one section that's open no shade but the section we were in was nice and shady.

Some of the permanent sites are tricked out with outbuildings, decks, and decorations etc that may be a little tacky, but I liked the park in general. Enterprise delivered a rental there, and I even got to fly at the local airport, the only time I flew all winter.

I don't know what review site you looked at, but RV Park Reviews has it at 8.2. Few private parks are much higher than that.

my son stayed there back in january and loved it.
