Hotel & RV in New Jersey

Hi,
in late August, we want to meet 2 friends and visit Manhattan together.
We will be with our (small) RV, they will fly in to Newark and need a bed and shower to stay.

Where can we stay at one place? Walking distance is acceptable.
Are there affordable hotels, where we can camp in our RV (fees ar ok)?
Or are there RV-parks with cabins to rent?

We want to be there for one week (Aug. 23rd-29th)
We do not want to move the RV to get closer to NYC.
Instead we want to take a walk/bus/train. A one hour commute is ok for us.

Any suggestion?

Happy New Year
Peter

That is exactly what I will do.

I will check in at a hotel for less than the RV-Park Liberty Harbor. There are lots of hotels/motels with free parking for guests and good connection to PABT.

Thanks!

Try calling the Clarion Hotel in Secaucus or one of the others in Harmon Meadows all have parking lots.
Most have bus service from the hotel to the Port Authority bus terminal in NY.
The bus is less than 1/2 hour trip depending on traffic through the Lincoln Tunnel.
Depending on time of year the hotel can be had for less than $100.00 per night.

Call the Sam's Club and Walmart that is within a mile and ask about putting your camper their

Very, very few CG in NYC area, and none, except Liberty Harbor, anywhere near a half hour commute. I'm originally from the Jersey Shore and think LH may be the only option that fits your criteria.

Hi Dave,
thanks for your quick reply.
The shortest way from this KOA to Midtown Manhatten is 72 miles.
I guess, there will be no bus or train to bring us there in less than an hour.
And if it would be 2 hours, we would loose 4 hours each day for the commute.
But the cabins look very nice 🙂

Thanks again
Peter

You're welcome Sir. I stayed there once and it was really nice. But like you say it is kind of far out. I know you want to stay on the outskirts but might I suggest Liberty Harbor.. When I go to the city I stay there. Like the others say above, it's just a parking lot but you don't waste much time commuting.

Maybe you can take a look at Black Bear located in Florida, NY or Croton Point Park in Croton-on-the-Hudson, NY

Dirt is expensive up there so CG's are few and far between

Liberty Harbor Marina/RV Park is the closest RV Park to NYC - just across the river a ferry ride away.

It isn't much more than a parking lot, but gets the job done. There are several chain type hotels within a mile or so ....
