Legalized weed in Colorado - impact on campgrounds

Obviously with the legalization of recreational weed in Colorado, will it be allowed to be used openly in state and federal campgrounds?

I personally don't care what consenting adults do behind their closed doors, but how will the laws be enforced within these campgrounds? I've booked a week at Ridgeway this summer and I don't want to have to worry about my family being impacted by a bunch of potential stoners camping around me. I highly doubt it will be a issue, but I just kinda want to know what to expect.

Stoned or drunk, they do not need to be driving under the influence. Hopefully it will be against the law to drive while stoned like it is while drunk.

Well, as Monkey44 once lived right above the Haight district in San Francisco, attended Berkeley and other 'notorious' universities during the sixties and seventies, this thread really makes me smile. Both the smarties and the stupids, those that "get it" and those that "don't" -- was gonna say, "You know which you are" ... but then decided you probably don't. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

And, interesting to know that even RV'ers and Campers come down on both sides of this issue collectively or separately. AND, present evidence that either supports a position, or not. Pretty neat thread actually.

However, will not give myself away and log in with an opinion. Be nice if the Mods let it run though, extremely entertaining.

I would have thought that it would be legal inside an RV at a state or private campsite. I'm surprised to hear otherwise. Haven't there been some court rulings or something that declared RVs to be like private residences? I could be way off though.

Your understanding of pot is a bit skewed. The thread will get closed if we go off the track too much.

I'm glad some real Coloradans showed up to quote rules. Thank you.

Thanks 4runnerguy and shakyjay for providing a legitimate answer. Like I said, if someone wants to have a beer or burn one, as long as it doesn't spill over into my campsite, then party on Garth

Personally, I think that all campgrounds in Colorado will be completely overrun with pot smoking zombies out to get you, your wife, and everything else you hold dear. Not to mention the very Fabric of American Society.

Be warned that the same thing is about to happen in Washington.

My advice to you is to STAY AWAY from these States...thereby leaving all spots open for those of us that couldn't care less! :B

Aaahh it seems like only yesterday...Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon just released.. A State campground, a little weed.. Cranked up my Muntz four track tape deck in my 63 Rambler..
I'll never forget it..About 3 songs in, the gentleman from the next site over, probably about my age now, comes walking over..In a slow southern drawl says " I'll make you a deal fellas,.if you don't keep me up all night playing that, I won't keep you up playing Kate Smith singing God Bless America". Still makes me giggle.

Good story.

If I was your neighbor I would have asked you to turn it up.

Nothing is really going to change other than the availability for those that want it. It will make the purchase process legal. Pot smokers generally have never had a problem finding it when they wanted it.

Smoking pot isn't like drinking in relation to what it takes to put someone in a "high" state of mind. Drinkers can go at it all night long and the longer it goes on the more loud and stupid they get. Pot smokers, on the other hand, will take a toke or a bit more and that's it......for a while anyway. There's a short scene in the movie Woodstock (1970) where Gerry Garcia from the Greatful Dead is shown rolling a joint. He then turns to the camera and says, "Marijuana, makes you behave."

I like my fellow campers to behave, so I'll opt to camp next to pot smokers any day. Of course it's likely that most of us won't even know whether our neighbor is smoking pot or not. That includes Colorado, Washington, or any other state.
