Our club is having trouble finding Florida campgrounds willing to host group campouts and rallies. Is that common in other Snowbird areas?

This is from our May newsletter:

"Many of our usual camping venues are cancelling our contracts or refusing to have groups at all. We have always had a problem in “season” but nothing like it is now. Big camping organizations have purchased a lot of the RV parks here and are moving into having full time sites and park model homes instead of campgrounds."

Anyone else affected by this?

We pretty much have to book mid-week days with our club in Minnesota and confirm with a credit card a month ahead.

All suggestions/comments are welcome. One problem the LoW's have is that it is a Single's group. Single's do not herd well and four or forty might show up at any particular campout. We have a saying, "I will be there" (Unless something better comes along). Hard to ask for or pay for twenty spots and only have five show up. We used to get more flexibility with the campgrounds but as they fill up, they want more commitment. Single and Commitment is not always found together in the Single world.

The WIN's (Wandering Individuals Network) are the singles that boondock a lot. They travel in groups for months at a time. Often out west but visiting Michigan this summer for one of their circuits. Fun group.

The LoW's meet monthly in the same general location. Fun people also. They mostly look for full hookups in places likely to have touristy things to do.

Might have to do like many do in Indiana... use County Fairgrounds for your rallies. If camping as a group, then each individual needs to make their own reservations and then everyone comes together for shared activities at those places that won't take groups.

Don't over look county and city parks either.

Yes. In calif. and Nevada. Many parks require deposits $300 to $400. 😞
