Minnesota CGs on Lake Superior

I'm looking for some CG advice- anybody ever stay at Lamb's Resort in Schroeder, MN? Seems to have some mixed reviews. The SPs are nearly all reserved for our anticipated July arrival up that way (they do have some walk ins available). Any info would be great, thanks in advance.

We are planning a UP trip this summer that will include a stay at Black River Harbor CG outside of Ironwood. It's a "no hook-up" campground, we stayed there 3 or 4 years ago, right on the lake. It was gorgeous and we're looking forward to going back to that general area. That whole area is beautiful.

The North Shore State Parks are very popular and are frequently full on every weekend (and some weekdays) during the summer. Some may consider the North Shore remote, but it is an extremely popular destination for folks from Minneapolis and St. Paul (and elsewhere).

We camped at Lambs about 15 years ago, and it was OK. Burlington Bay has just expanded and is right on the lake in Two Harbors. The new portion of the campground is pretty much a terraced open area, but you do have a view of the lake. As someone else has posted, Grand Marais CG is also on the lake and right in town with nice views.

There are many USFS campgrounds farther inland from Lake Superior, but these generally don't have electrical or water hookups, although water is available from wells. Almost all are located on smaller lakes, often with good fishing. They almost never fill up completely. A few USFS campgrounds on the Tofte Ranger District are even available free of charge.

Stayed there for several nights the end of May about 10 years ago. At that time, the sites were fairly small and tight, lots of trees. Didn't go into the showers or laundry, so am not sure what they were like We had a 36ft DP and did fit ok, we had to be in the area for a wedding and didn't have a lot of choices.

If at all possible, I would try for either Burlington Bay and the city park in Grand Marais. No restaurants, shopping etc near Lambs. Both of the other parks are within walking distance of shopping, etc. You need to make reservations for both parks as soon as possible, they are popular and are full most of the time.

Unless Lamb's has upgraded quite a bit, I would pass on them and stop in Two Harbors or continue on the Grand Marais.

You might have a look at Burlington Bay Campground in Two Harbors. MN. It's a city campground that has an older portion like a campground and a newer portion like an RV park with 50 amp FHU overlooking Lake Superior. We stayed at the newer portion a couple of years ago and pictures are availabale here.

Only experience I have had is State Campgrounds and the Knife River Campground. Knife River CG was a nice place but the spots are a little small. You are right on your neighbor.
