Will be pulling our TT on Natchez Trace. Any recommendations for campgrounds with hook ups off the Trace?

Thanks for your help.

There are several state parks along the parkway which are very nice! We have driven it twice in the last two years

We traveled the Trace northbound a few years and thoroughly enjoyed it. Others are right - take your time.

Here is a report on our trek, complete with pictures, comments, and links to pictorial reviews of all the campgrounds we stayed at.

Have a great trip!

At the Southern end of the Trace, Natchez State Park, nice little park. Love the Trace been traveling for years with and without RV.

Watch your speed! Also make sure you do not have a commercial license plate or anything that makes your rig look commercial, they will ticket you in a heartbeat.

If you want to stop in Northeastern Mississippi, we highly recommend Piney Grove COE Campground in New Site, MS. It is a beautiful campground located approximately 5 miles off the Natchez Trace. Great variety of campsites, many along a lake. In summer, especially weekends, reservations are recommended. It is worth a 2-3 night stay.

Have a wonderful trip!

Fishy,

First, you need to plan where you want to break off for the day. You should start on that now. It doesn't matter if you are north or south bound, there is still too much to see. I personally recommend that you plan three days on the Trace. Yes, that is only about 150 miles per day, but with an historical marker or location about every other mile. Really-Truly

There are nice camp grounds all along the Trace and many more are in easy striking range. If you limiting to full hookup, there are fewer but still a good number. I have stayed in only a few FHU but were never disappointed by Camp Ground Reviews.

There are three campgrounds on the Trace, none have any facilitis at all. However there are a number of good campgrounds just off the trace. We really like Trace State Park outside of Tupelo,

There are several COE parks just off the Natchez ( within a couple of miles). Look at Recreation.gov for the locations. There are several facilities called "water parks" along the Parkway. Check carefully because only one or two of these have camping facilities.

The Natchez is beautiful, but it gets a little boring after a while. It all looks the same.

If you Google Natchez Trace campgrounds you can get to the NPS website that has a listing of campgrounds:

http://www.nps.gov/natr/planyourvisit/upload/Campgrounds-2-9-14.pdf

Then use rvparkreviews to check them out and you are set.

Ditto on the speed limit but you will have some behind you that must have a "speeding permit" or something, especially around the towns that the NTP goes close to.

No info on Campground on the Trace. But drive SLOW the federal park rangers enforce the speed limit more than TN highway policeman do.
