I'm still trying to reserve a site at the northern rim of the grand canyon. We have a 36' 5th wheel. Hoping for 3 days about the first week of October. Any information would be appreciated.

If you can dry camp, check out Free Camping and Campendium for campsites on the left side of the road to the North Side NP. I think they call the area "East" GC. It is NFS land and at some places you can park within 100 yards of the GC edge.

Beware, of COLD snow weather that time of year. I do not known when the NP and the road to GC closes for the winter.
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

Good Plan. I was at the North Rim CG the last operating week of October 2017 and it was glorious. CG was not full, though the sites on the outside of the loop were all taken. Weather was cooperative, highs in the 60s lows in the 30s.

Be aware of the TIME to make reservations. 6 month booking window opens at 8:00AM EASTERN time; make sure you are ready to book right at that time in order to get a more favourable spot. Sites near the edge of the canyon on the outside (11/14/15/16/18/19/21) are highly desireable and go fast. We stayed in 11 and it was a wonderful site, plenty of room and a very short walk to the canyon edge.

Last year we stayed in the Lodge at the North Rim for 2 nights and left the RV in Kanab. We travel with a 5 cubic foot freezer and need AC power to keep things frozen. We were there in mid September and it snowed. So the weather at that altitude and time of year can change hourly. This was our second trip to the North Rim and our 4th to the GC. We have enjoyed each trip.

This may also help - old post on another network - North Rim Link
We ave always loved the North Rim - we just Boondock or drive in as reservations don't get you much and are very hard to secure. (especially if you try the day of)

Best of Luck, you will love it.
