Just returned from a short trip to Petit Jean SP in Arkansas. It is a beautiful place. The hiking trails were wonderful. Camp sites were clean and spacious. I would like to make another trip there someday. It was also the first time I was used my inverter to power my outside fridge while on the road and it worked great.

Nice park, if you go early December, you will have the park to yourself.
we did last year, parked close to the lake and made friends with the ducks... also the previous months rain meant we could see the falls raging.. car museum was a bit lame for me, but we did see deer roaming
the park at night..

And, the river that runs through Wichita, KS is the "are KANSAS" river; not the "ARE CAN saw" river.

thank you.. we enjoyed it very much.. however could you
explain why "Arkansas" is pronounced "are can sore" and not "are can sas" ? and also why "Kansas" is pronounced "can sas" and not "can sore" ..?? LOL

:B LOL! When I was in Basic Training, a Drill Sergeant asked me the very same thing.

Brings back memories. I lived in Jacksonville in mid 70's... Dad was in the AF and stationed at LRAFB. We went to Petit Jean SP many times. If I recall, there was a place we jumped off cliffs into the water. It seemed like 100 ft up, but probably more like 20.

Loved that place.

X2 on Petit Jean State Park near Morrilton... Been there a few times myself.... Love the Arkansas River area along that stretch or the country side south of I40... Many camping location here...

Was stationed at LRAFB back in the 60s and ran the Missle sites all North of I40 doing Radio Maintenance. We all found out real quick you could find a new fishing spot within 30 minutes of any direction you wanted to look haha... All of us Air Force Radio Maintenance types carried fishing gear and always took the long way back to the base when done with our maintenance at the Missle Silos haha...
