We are heading north on I-5 this summer in June. Looking for a good place for an overnighter around Los Banos California.
Any suggestions?

Kit Fox - or Santa Nella - I would stay at either again (both at several times)

I'll NEVER be an "EXPERT" (In math.X is an unknown factor and a "SPURT" is just a drip - under pressure)

There is no Camping World in that area along I-5. There is one in Vacaville on 80, but it's 25 miles from I-5. There are rest stops along the way but I-5 is a heavy truck route so you'll be parked among the refer trucks with their refers running all night. Although It's technically not legal to camp overnight in a rest stop, I have never heard of it being enforced. There is a Walmart in Los Banos not too far off the freeway. You could probably overnight there.

How about a rest stop, truck stop, or camping world?

Check with Calif. Dept.of Transportation about being able to legally sleep in rest stops overnight.

I have stayed at all three, Santa Nella, Kit Fox and the KOA and all are good for an overnight stop. The KOA is dirt sites with nothing really near by. Santa Nella is paved and nice and quiet with a couple of fast food restaurants across the road. Kit Fox is real nice with several restaurants within walking distance. It is paved and quiet. Just depends on your budget and what you want for amenities, if any.

Agreed. My favorite of the 4 campgrounds in this state recreation area is Medeiros - primitive, first come first served, some sites right at the water's edge.

Medeiros is not on San Luis Reservoir, it's down on the forebay.

There are campgrounds at the San Luis reservoir. Nice quiet remote place on a weeknight.

About approx. 1 hr. north of Los Banos is a great RV park " Kit Fox" located 5 min. off of I-5. This is a good overnighter. Call in advance and request a pull through site to avoid unhooking. There is a couple of fast food joints and restaurants within walking distance of the RV park. Approx. $40 per night with full hook ups. Further north about 1 hr. is "Four Flag" RV park at Lodi. It is right off I-5 and is full hooks and a nice well maintained park. There are many pull through sites but call in advance to reserve the pull through. About $45 per night. This also next to a Truck stop so you can get diesel fuel. A number of restaurants by the park.

Just some quick corrections, Kit Fox RV park is in Patterson about 30 miles (half hour) north of Los Banos and the RV park at Highway 12 and I-5 is called Flag City RV Park.

There are two RV parks right at I5 at Los Banos. Santa Nella RV Park and there is a KOA on 152 about a mile west of I5.
