Quartzsite vs Yuma, Az ???

Hi all......so we finally decided we wanted to go to "Q" this year BUT now I hear that "Q" may not be the place to go and that "Yuma" is fast becoming the New location to find all things RV related? I just did a "search" for info on Yuma RV/Tent event, but really didn't get any meaningful results. We have been told by those staying here in Parker, Az that "Q" is old news and that we should go to Yuma for the RV deals/bargains. It appears that Yuma's Big Tent event is an on going thing through-out the winter months?

In case your wondering, theses are all question since we are scheduled to be in "Q" next week......Thank you for any input you care to share regarding "Q" vs Yuma?

i went shopping at... family dollar store,
I checked that out too, and at the time they had one cashier and a pretty long line. And that was not the busy season. There's a tent grocery store near the post office.

i went shopping at several tyson wells and the family dollar store, and another flea market, prices wee no more than any place else we travel,
we where there 6 days, we did NOT need to restock ALL our grocery needs

spent some money in the big tent,
had a great time, ready to back next year
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

All I can say is we kept the economy of "Q" in mind while buying things at the tent and in town. Quite frankly, I didn't find prices to be soo awful at Markets and eateries. Silly Al's was Great for Pizza and the Quartzsite Yacht Club was a ball on Taco Tuesday. Traffic was OK.....tent was very busy on Saturday(first day) but the rest of the week was very manageable. All in all, we had a Great time! I will say the 10% sales tax is high but if that's what it takes, so be it!

I just don't like spending 4.50 on a gallon of milk, 18.00 for two pieces of steak, 4.00 for a can of soup. so I
go to Walmart

:h I'll bet that's the first time Yuma has ever been described as 'yuppie'. :B I agree about the traffic, though.

LOL!

I prefer to patronize the Q businesses. Keeps them alive, and helps break the Walmart addiction.

well, we probably spend maybe $6 in gas, if that (a Suzuki sidekick) to get there. If everything is $1 more, then yes, it's worth it.

That, and Walmart is where I get my prescriptions.

Just got home from Q and as usual it's demise is greatly exaggerated. It seemed like more people were there but a few less vendors.
Great weather this year!

went to the big tent once. Meh. Not as much RV stuff as there should be IMHO.
Target and Home Depot and building a new power center in Ehrenberg next year, that will help all the RVer's in Q to have somewhere to go on Friday nights.
So big a world, so little time to see.

Yes.....it is. When it comes to quality and variety, definitely going into Parker or Blythe is WELL worth it. Before everyone starting coming in (we've been here since Oct 15), we discovered one of the stores only had 3 gallons of milk......2% and we wanted 1%....BUT, what was really aggravating, he was supposed to be pulled off the shelf 1 week before. Yip.....it's worth it.
