We will be going to a lacrosse tournament near Richmond in July of this year ... looking for suggestions on campgrounds. We probably wouldn't need that much to do at the actual campground although a pool would be nice for when we come back at night. I'm sure it will be warm in July ๐Ÿ™‚ Has to be pet friendly. Thanks!

Our favorite in that area is Pocahontas State Park in Chestefield. Water and electric only though. By they have a great water park (sort of water park)'and you get free passes for each person in your party for each day that you are camping.

Depending on where the tournament is, either Americamp in Ashland or Pochantas in Chesterfield.

Here are some ideas - North of Richmond - Americamps. West of Richmond - Small Country Camping. South East - Chippokes Plantation State Park.

Virginia's state parks are awesome.

There is a campground in Ashland, VA, not sure where in Richmond you're lacrosse is located but Ashland is north of Richmond about 20-30 minutes depending on where you need to be. In Chesterfield you have a very nice Virginia state park called Pocahontas but it is only electric/water. They do have large sites, dog friendly and have a pool but the pool can be crowded during the summer since it's about the only public pool we have and a lot of day cares and other places use it. Once again depending on where you're lacrosse is located you're 20-30 minutes away.

There's a KOA at Exit 151 on Interstate 70 right at Richmond, Indiana. It's quite a distance from Virginia, but it is a nice campground. Um... Tom Raper RV is exit 149A on I-70, just one exist from the KOA. Sorry, don't know anything about Virginia. ๐Ÿ˜ž
