OK, I have a couple road questions. We are going to Hemet from NW Washington, and then Yuma and Mesa/Gold Canyon.

First question is about Hwy 79 from Beaumont to Golden Village Palms in Hemet? OK for 5er?

Second is Hwy 85 from Gila Bend to I-10. Given that this is Super Bowl day(on
Wwest side of Phoenix) we should probably stay on I-8 and head North on I-10 to 60 and get off on Val Vista or Gilbert Rd and head north to Val Vista RV Resort on University.

Thanks Chris

That route is 27 miles longer that 84/347 and unlikely to be faster.

There won't be any traffic around Mesa since the Super Bowl is on the other side of the valley. 63 is in Fiesta just down the street from us and while they use to have park models there (if you are looking at Goggle Earth) those have been removed. There is a park model in 60 and then not another one on that side until you get to 71.

OK, 8, 84, 347, Queen Creak Rd to 10. Good 2 lane roads and a few traffic lights in Maricopa but a little quicker/shorter than 8, 10. Then 202, 101, 60 would be my preference.

You'll be faster stay on I-8 to I-10 up to Highway 60 to Val Vista Drive (if I'm reading correctly Mesa comes first). There won't be any rush hour traffic and if you go any interior roads it is STOP and GO. We're at Val Vista (in the Fiesta section) for the winter.

Hi Barb. This is not a winter stay at Val Vista. I am going though the chairs in our yacht club, so we stayed home last year and this year we are doing an one month scouting trip and meeting DW's brother and wife from Ohio in Yuma.

So we want to look at Golden Village Palms in Hemet. Then we will go to Cocopah RV and Golf in Yuma to meet BIL/DW for a week and move to Val Vista on Feb 1st for just 6 days with them(they will be there for Feb). Then we spend a week back at Canyon Vistas to see the gang and book a spot for 2015-2016, if we do not decide to choose Golden Village Palms in California for medical insurance reasons.

Feb 1st in Sunday so traffic from Yuma to Mesa should not be an issue except for the Super Bowl!

Looks like we are in Val Vista Fiesta site #63 Feb 1st-6th. Think BIL is in #65 for all of Feb.Chris

Chris, travel the 79 from Beaumont to Hemet all the time. Just watch your speed. There is a little shopping center across the street from Golden Palms and on the east end a coffee shop called Mia's Country Kitchen. They serve a pretty good breakfast there. Really like Golden Palms and the fact the accept PPA makes it very affordable for a few days.

Just did that route last season. No good reason for going though Phoenix when 85 to I-8 is so easy.

Following the CaTraveler's advice is pretty sound. Once you get to I-10, I'd take the 202 Loop to Val Vista and go north to University. Val Vista is a good road with a reasonable amount of traffic signals.....Dennis

Hwy 79 from Beaumont to Hemet is no issue. I've taken motorhomes and 5th wheels that way. Flat and mild hills.

Well I was not clear enough. We are going to Hemet for 3-5 days and then to Yuma for a week. The Hwy 79 is in play there.

The second issue is on Feb 1st leaving Yuma for Mesa on Super Bowl Sunday so we leave Yuma on I-8 and head East, the West Side of Phoenix will most likely be a mess on West I-10 so my thought is to stay on I-8 to I-10 and head up I-10 to 60 and on East! Or maybe the 202 loop off I10 to 101 Loop and up to 60?

Taking 85 to 8 and then back up to 60 adds a lot of time and miles. I'd leave Hemet early, use I10 to Phoenix and plan to pass the stadium about mid game time.

Another option would be to boondock in Q at Greasewood for $7 and head t Phoenix the next day. While there are lots of free areas Greasewood is on Main and barely out of the way.
