We like the Ameristar also. So much we try to plan our trip to stay there on our trips back and forth to Florida. Very friendly and if you have a pet they try to set you close to the dog walk. Nice clean park.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We arrived in Vicksburg yesterday afternoon and decided to stay at Ameristar Casino RV Park. Close to everything we want to see including the Sunday brunch at the Ameristar Casino. Will need a long walk after that, LOL.

We stayed at Ameristar Casino RV park last year. We found it to be very nice. I would stay there again. The entrance in is a little steep, but doable with our trailer.

What I found interesting was how the site was paid for. Most RV parks I know, charge for the entire stay, up front.

At Ameristar, it operated more like a hotel, and we settled up expenses at the end of our stay.

Definitely allow at least 1/2 day or more for the Battlefield and as Dennis said do the visitors center first it's excellent. I have only stayed at Ameristar and to parrot the others many sites are not even close to level, don't be afraid to request a different site.

We have stayed at two parks while traveling through Vicksburg and seeing the sites. Ameristar is pretty descent, but some sites aren't very level as said before and some are close together. The entrance driveway to the park is a little steep and I scraped the rear of our 5th Wheel. They have a shuttle to the casino which is nice if you want to eat or try your luck. Then we have stayed at River Town Campground. It is a little outside of town, about 15 minutes or so to the battlefield. The sites are spaced pretty well and fairly level. They are gravel sites, but was maintained pretty well.

Ameristar...but, many of their sites are not very level. If possible, you'll want to ask for the first row...

If going, and I think you'll be sorry if you don't, to the Vicksburg National Military Park, be sure to go to the Visitor's Center FIRST. You can rent a player that will make the drive through the park much more meaningful. Plan on spending about 6-8 hrs on the drive.....Dennis

not much to choose from. We usually stay at the Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park. Read the reviews on www.rvparkreviews.com - but pretty much the best option.
