I liked Chula Vista, but don't get a site near the ocean - there is a park and parking lot between you and the water - one day I heard 7 different ice cream trucks at the same time. One was playing christmas music - in July!!!

And another over looking San Diego Bay to the west of the resort....

We just returned home from a week at Chula Vista RV. Love this campground and the area. My second choice would be San Diego KOA.

Have stayed at both the San Diego KOA and Chula Vista RV resort and can attest to the quality of both. We have spent the last several years at Chula Vista and it has become our preferred campground. However as mentioned, pricey.

One other thing to consider would be the San Diego parks system although it appears camping is limited to 21 day max. Sweet_water Park caught my eye as it's close to town and has hiking/biking trails.

Our first choice is the 'adults only' Bernardo Shores in Imperial Beach, but it will be closed by then in all probability. Slated to become a condominium complex. Our second choice is Chula Vista RV, followed by Mission Bay RV. Avoid Campland by the Sea (something close to that). Locals refer to it as 'Woodstock'. We've stayed at all those. Many speak well of Santee Lakes. San Deigo KOA (I avoid KOA's) also has a good reputation. San Diego has quite a few parks to choose from that are good parks. Check the various review sites for which suits you best. And . . . Borrego Springs is not in San Diego.

Do not know the age of your RV but beware some of the resorts have RV age restrictions.

Anza Borrego State Park is a fantastic place to visit and camp in the cooler months.
San Diego itself is loaded with stuff to see and do. You need to state your interest to narrow it down.
For camping they have ocean, Mountains and desert.
