Sights and CGs in Oregon - revised

Having to change our plans. We will be working in Redmond, OR all of June and July with several one week breaks. I already have reservations at South Beach SP and a CG near Crater Lake for one week. But looking for ideas for the second break, either day trips or longer. I already have day trips planned for the Sisters Quilt Festival, Mt. Bachlor, Newberry Crater, lava caves, etc. In the past, we toured the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood and northern Oregon coast.

When we leave, will also visit Lassen Volcanic NP and have reservations at Manzanita Lake CG.

Silver Falls State Park

It would be a shame to miss this State Park. (It's spectacular if you like waterfalls.)
10 waterfalls... 2 you can walk behind... unless the trail has collapsed to get behind them since the last time I was there.

NO PETS ALLOWED on the trail.

I prefer to park at the NORTH FAllS trail head to do the entire hike.

We've also gone with another couple so we could drop them off at the North Falls trail head... then we'd drive to the South Falls trail head to start our hike from there. We meet in the middle... have a picnic lunch and give them the car keys. They hike to the car (be sure to tell them where it is in the parking lot) and then drive to the North Falls Trail head and pick us up.

Check out far northeastern oregon. The route there is pretty, also, along the John Day river. Side trip to the Painted Hills.

Mt Hood, Timberine Lodge, Columbia River gorge, Willowa Lake, Oregon Trail Interperative center, KanWahChang historic pharmacy Frenchglen and Peter French Round barn. Thats a start.
