Snowbird park recommendations?

Hello everyone! I was wondering if I might find some help here. Thinking of snowbirding this winter with my family. We are young-ish (40-50) and have children. Looking for some rv park recommendations. Southwest US area. A pool And warmer temps are a must. Green, lush environment where you can walk to stores outside of park. The closest "type" of park that we have stayed in is Las Vegas Oasis park. Are there any similar that anyone can recommend?

Thank you all again.... I have been perusing the Good Sam website and have found a number of options. I searched under Palm Desert because it is one of the few snowbird communities I know. There are a handful of options that would work. Any other towns to research?

Also, my kids are really good about entertaining themselves with books, iPads, swimming pools, walks, cooking, yoga classes, really anything. I am not concerned that they will get bored. Remember, we homeschool, so they are used to hanging out with the family for most days. The sunshine will be enough to keep us all happy!

The OP wants to walk to stores. It would be a looooong walk from Amado. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes I did READ that but threw in the additional info as most kids will get bored fast in a Snowbird Park so just maybe they have or can get off-road toys. My boys would have hated staying in a Snowbird park as well as myself today. Just trying to provide an alternative! Easier to drive to stores than keep young people entertained, if they are outdoorsy.

No off road toys to bring.... Las Vegas Oasis and the Golden Village in Hemet, CA seem my best options. I thank you all for the suggestions. I didn't know what was out there, but now I am learning more.

You might also want to check the RV Parks right on the calif. Arizona border on the Colorado River. Go to Good Sam RV Parks to check them out. I have never stayed in the area but do drive bye every year as i go from Calif. to Ariz.

Again, they don't have a car and while the river is there for the kids, no way to walk anywhere for shopping, etc.

Having stayed at Las Vegas Oasis, there is NOTHING in the rest of the SouthWest that comes close!!! Since I live in AZ and have traveled most of the SouthWest, you are going to have to forget about Green & Lush in the Winter, Monsoon Season Maybe. If you have off-road toys you can stay at the parks in Amado, AZ, http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/arizona/amado/de-anza-rv-resort-98 and leave from the park with your toys. Good luck!

The KOA in Apache Junction, Arizona might be a good option. Plenty to do and see in the area.

32 feet is all I want to manage right now! I would rather rent one once I got there if I needed it. Plus, living up north, all we have are big suvs. So, a tow car would involve purchasing another car. That's why a location within walking distance to town would be ideal. We aren't coming to sight see, as much as just coming to live, avoiding the coldest months up north.

I think your situation will be so much better if you can find a way to take a car with you. You can buy a tow dolly and tow pretty much any front wheel drive car with no modifications. You can even rent a dolly one way from UHaul.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.

Good advice to book now. I didn't account for the hurricane damage affecting options...

You may want to find a spot to make a reservation...now!
The entire Southwest will be even busier and more crowded than usual this year with winter visitors. RV parks and campgrounds in Arizona are already reporting a large increase in snowbird inquiries and reservations due to the recent hurricane damage in Florida and Texas.

Have you read reviews on RV Parks Reviews? That would be a good place to start. We are in Phoenix area and there are some parks that are for families, as well as several county parks (2week stays then move to new park) , plus state parks, but all would require you to have a car.

There are two parks side by side outside of Tucson, called Justin's Diamond J Ranch, and Desert Trails. One of them, and I can't recall which, is quite rustic but has big sites and a more open, park-like feel. Most AZ parks are shoulder to shoulder. I believe the one I'm thinking of is Desert Trails. Their website says they have "a campground atmosphere".

The parks I mentioned are a good 10-15 minutes out in the sticks from town. But there is hiking and such right out of the park boundary.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.
