Suggest Campgrounds; Maryland to Florida

My wife, 2 dogs and I are currently in a campground in Woodbine, Maryland. We are on a month-to-month rate with this month ending July 8th. We want to be back in Sarasota, Florida after the Labor Day weekend to begin our snowbirding. Originally we planned on staying here until after Labor day and then return to Florida. I should complete what we are here for before July 8th, so we can either stay here or work our way South. Does anyone have any suggestions for campgrounds between Maryland and Sarasota? We're not into moving much, so one week minimum duration would be a prerequisite.

Thanks,
John

I've only done overnight stops- but so far we've hit:

- Kosmos Village RV Park - http://www.kosmovillage.com/ - it was OK. More like some pull thru spots in front of a trailer park. The price was right, though.
- RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads - http://033b649.netsolhost.com/ - this was a decent place. I could see spending a week here.
- Whispering Pines - http://www.whisperingpinesrvpk.com/ - I barely saw any of this place. We arrived late and left early (for us). My in-laws and daughter walked back to their pond to let a stowaway frog loose.
- Pecan RV Park - http://www.pecanparkrvresort.com/ - nice place. Expensive for an overnight, but paved, level lots, and all pull-thrus.

Riverbottom Farms RV campground, also known as the yogi Bear Jellystone of Swansea South Carolina is great. It is the only Jellystone in South Carolina. Family oriented dog friendly. We go here multiple times a year. Matter of fact going next week and again two weeks later.

We like Mayberry RV Park in Mt Airy NC. No trees but nice friendly place. Mt Airy is a neat little town where Mayberry RFD TV series was based.
If you want more trees we also like Tanglewood Park (Forsyth County Park) in Clemmons NC. They have the BEST dog park!!
In Brunswick GA either Blythe Island Regional park (no satellite reception due to lots of trees or Coastal Georgia RV Park with paved sites, no trees but nice landscaping and nice pool.

Usually when we head down we deadhead until either Savannah or Charleston and spend a couple days, then continue on to Bradenton. Nothing on I95 in between Maryland and those cities really captivates me.

I would suggest you consider either of those 2 cities while you are down there. I haven't found a campground in Savannah that I LOVE... but we spend little time at the campground when we are there. For Charleston, James Island County Park (JICP) is a GREAT home base. Nice sized sites with a wooded setting, fair price, close to the city and food.

Another option is to go down through the western side of the Carolina's through the Blueridge Mountains and through those areas. I've never driven that route, as we are usually strapped for vacation time and I95 is the quickest route. I can't recommend any specific campgrounds there though.

Sounds like a heck of a trip! Hope you have a fun and safe drive and winter!
