Suggestion On Tombstone Area Campgrounds

We are in the Phoenix area for another 10 days or so and then I am going to fulfill a boyhood dream of going to Tombstone. Any suggestions on places to stay would be appreciated. After checking the reviews on RV parks review, I am more confused than ever. I don't have to stay within walking distance from town as I have a tow.
Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

We always stay at Tombstone Territories RV park. Very central to everything to do.
Along with the already mentioned places to see, we also enjoy visiting the many wineries near the towns of Sonoita and Elgin. Just east of the RV park is the old ruins of Fairbanks. They have a restored one room school house museum.

Also enjoyed the old west army museums at Fort Huachuca.

Didn't know about this park. Looks great and right in between Tombstone and the Caverns. Perfect.

Two years ago, we stayed at the Tombstone RV Park and Campground. May have changed, but when we were there, they had a coral for horses that folks may have brought with them.

Hopefully it links properly, but the Tombstone section of my travel blog The Traveling Koala will show up.

I remember when it was a a horse RV park, a mess. Very run down. Yes last year it was bought by new owners. They went through and leveled all the spots, cleaned up everything, it is now very clean and nice. The pool is clean and inviting. It looks just like the web site pictures.

Strongly recommend them. I

We're booked into Kartchner Caverns State Park for a week while we check out the area, which includes Tombstone.

Thanks for all the great replies and suggestions on things to do in the area. We are pretty flexible on ho long to stay this time. Carved out at least a week for this leg of the trip.

Tombstone Territories for us.

Here are some entries from our Trip Journal showing why we recommend;

Besides all the things TT has to offer another biggy for us was the location...about half way between Tombstone and Huachuca City making visiting a lot of the different things in the area easy.

Hope you enjoy and safe travels.

Just went down there 3 weeks back. There is only 1 (at Tombstone) I would stay at. Tombstone RV park and Campground. http://www.tombstonervparkandcampground.com/ It is about 1 mile north of town, they have shuttle service if you want that.

I have been to this camp ground a lot over the years, they just went under new management last year and wow what a change, very clean, very friendly you won't regret it.

All of the others in Tombstone are very cramped a couple you can't set your awning out all the way it will hit your neighbor. Trust me Tombstone RV is the only place to go. With their shuttle it is like being in town.

You can go to other closer towns and find good ones.

Tombstone Territories is $180-$210/week plus electric.

Kartchner is $30/night

The Escapees Saguaro park on Hwy 80 is 1/2 hour drive to the caverns or Tombstone. At $50/week you won't be disappointed.....promise!

We stayed at Kartchner Caverns State Park and it was very nice. I wanted to be closer to the Caverns than the Escapee Park near Benson. Both are good locations and there is plenty to occupy your time in the area with day trips. Tucson is not that far away either.

You won't find a better place than this and their 1 week for $50 including electric can't be beat. Huge, beautifully-landscaped sites. There's a lot more to the area than Tombstone and you could easily spend a week.

Tombstone on Sat or Sunday is more festive.
Bisbee is unique and the mine tour is awesome. It's given by former miners. You don a yellow slicker, hard hat with a light and hop on a mine car for the tour.
A day trip to Chirichuha Nat'l Monument - interesting rock formations and nice hiking. It's also cooler temperatures.
Kartchner Caverns State Park for the Rotunda Room tour - very professional.
A day trip to Patagonia.

That certainly is a very nice park. You can't beat the price. Also the suggestions for other things to see in the area are spot on.
