Until those darn rock climbers showed up.lol This was a nice find a half mile from the Columbia River in Eastern Wa that I tried a couple of weeks ago. Great views, very quiet and it was free.(other than the Washington State annual pass,$35) first attempt at adding an image with photobucket, hope it works

Here is info from OP:
"The Gorge amphitheater exit just before the Scenic Overlook exit. When you are in that scenic area you are almost on top of these rock outcroppings.
Very cool boat launch into the Columbia and rec area at the bottom of the hill. Exit 143 then go right for 1/4 mile. then go left just past the only house on the road. Follow that Vantage road all the way down to the river (3 or 4 miles) , you will see the echo canyon and it's awesome rock cliffs about halfway down to the river. Nice paved older road. From what I heard that was how you got across the river lots of years ago.Not sure if there was a ferry or what"
Don't go when there is an event at The Gorge" unless you plan on attending it.

Love it. Is it easy to get to?

No problems with the climbers, more likely I was invading their domain. Merely an attempt at humor.

The problem with the climbers was? Lets see, I imagine shouts of, on belay, climbing, watch me, off belay. All shouted for a reason, safety.
