Trip report: Tioga Road & the Yosemite High Country

If you are thinking about Yosemite this summer, there is a cooler alternative to Yosemite Valley -- the Tioga Road area is mostly over 8000 feet, with many trails leading up to about 11,000 feet. And bring a sweatshirt -- the nights are chilly!

Anyway, here is our blog entry for our most recent trip:

Yosemite High Country Trip Report
2012 Fun Finder X-139 "Boondock Style" (axle-flipped and extra insulation)
2013 Toyota Tacoma Off-Road (semi-beefy tires and components)

I was able last night to book a campsite in Tuolumne Meadows (tent site)and am really excited about it. We drove over Tioga Pass 30+ years ago but didn't stop to explore. Your blog pictures are great, I don't know how many of those places we can make it to, but we'll try some of them! My daughter and I camped in the Yosemite Valley in June, it was really hot and it made hiking exhausting; we are from the fog zone and are just not used to the heat and elevation.
