Would like to plan on a week at this CG late Jan next year. Being a first come first serve CG, can anyone tell me if it's difficult to get into? Would be leaving Catalina SP for Gilbert Ray on a Monday.

This blogger just gave a recent report of Gilbert Ray campground in Tucson. It is absolutely lush with Sonoran desert plants and the sites are very nice. No reservations and a 7-day limit. Hope you get a site!

This is one of our favorite CG in Arizona! We've been there numerous times from January through March and have never had a problem getting a spot. It's a lovely spot, great for hiking and/or biking. Lots of wildlife!

We were in Tucson in Dec. 2015. Drove through Gilbert Ray to check it out, it was less than 1/2 full. Nice CG plenty of room between sites and room for big rigs.
Hope this helps
