Fires

Hope they get some rain and snow this winter. El Nino should bring rain to California anyway.

Here's a good site to monitor the fires if you're traveling. You can plug in any state.

the DW's sister owns a lakehouse at Chelan and their main house in Winthrop.:E

they have been going back and forth to both places. after Friday's bad winds, things are looking better for them.
the fire near Winthrop isn't moving towards them anymore.
but the Chelan house still has fire on the mountain above them.
but the better conditions yesterday, is allowing for better fire suppression.

they will be blessed if they come out of this with both houses intact.

we drove along the Columbia River last night and the smoke was so thick it reminded me of the LA area. sure will be glad when the rainy season starts again. A friend of mine who is a wheat rancher said he will get the rain sticks out of the closet once they get harvest over with.

Yes, the areas need moisture, but without any ground cover left to hold it back, even normal rains will lead to mud slides and flooding.
It's going to get very messy.

For those that have been to the very nice park in Conconully, WA (I think it's a State RV park) it, and the town have been spared, but just barely. It burned all the way around it. Have friends that watched the DC10s firebombing right next to the house.
