What a shame campgrounds see fit to triples their prices when there is a major event it town. Happen to go through Albuquerque when the balloon was on. I didn't realize it was balloon fest time but I needed a place to stay for a couple of days. The camp ground was a dirt parking lot we had only water and electric and the Wi-Fi was pretty much non existent

Ryder Cup was in Bloomington Minnesota and every hotel doubled their room rates including the one I work at. It's the American way.

Of course, when gas stations raise the price of gas before a hurricane, its called price gouging, and against the law but when a campground does it, its called capitalism

We can always vote with our wheels. You didn't need to be or want to be there for the show, so roll on......
We do that a lot. We also go to music festivals where the rooms are reserved a year ahead and pay 15$/night for a flat spot. The only thing were are promised is music. At Albuquerque the only thing we got besides mud and rain was BALLOONS!!!!

And though you could have voted with your wheels and kept on driving, you stayed.

The alternative would, of course, be having them not raise prices (when the others do) and by so doing being fully booked and having no room for you. I don't know whether that's a better outcome for you or not.

I worked in Hershey PA for several months - the price of hotels after Memorial Day quadrupled. It's all about supply and demand - what keeps most economies going.

Funny how people believe in capitalism until it effects them in the pocket book
