We often bring along a little canned banjo music. It clears out the tourist on busy weekends. lizzie

Check out the Chattahoochee River in Columbus Ga. on the border with Alabama. There is also a bunch of videos on you tube. http://visitcolumbusga.com/outside/conquer_the_outside

Clayton Ga and try the Chattooga. This river does not play and will kill you but it is some beautiful country. Helmets and vests are must-haves. There is usually a couple of drownings each year and the rain has been so heavy this season that parts of the river have been placed off limit.

Not much in Georgia to raft but you could tube on the Toccoa at MaCaysville. Also try a dozen or so raft companies that do the Ocoee. Try the Hiwassee River at Reliance TN or the Nantahala and/or Tuckesgee near Bryson City NC. lizzie

My kids always go to Helen to ride the Hooch in Tubes. They take all their kids, no matter what the age.

As long as there's plenty of water in the River, they all have a great time.

Just thinking about that makes me start humming the theme song from "Deliverance".
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

Contact Nantahala Outdoor Center for rafting information. They have locations on the Nantahala, Ocoee, and the Chatooga (think Deliverance) rivers. Great people to work with; experienced guides, good equipment.

or travel approximate 1.5 more miles NORTH into Nantahala - Lake Fontana, NC.

Bryson City, TN area.

Rafting Nantahala is great, and little more beginner river, along with unbelieveable Mtns and activities.

Right across the GA/TN state Line, Ducktown, TN

Raft the Ocoeee

Several outdoor companies, provide rafting trips in that area.

I recommend the second half river trips (there are full day trips), the top portion is so, so and full day gets a little too much for many.

Water pretty chilley and you do get wet, so warmer weather better.

Ocoee Whitewater Center

Nicer campground with hook-ups in that area (if needed) -->

Persimmon Creek Campground

Great area, do it and have a great adventure!
