I also boondock in the Pigeon River Country State Forest. I do it in early October and have seen 2 big bull elk and hear them bugling.

Pigeon River Country State Forest, Northern Michigan. We are able to go 10 days on batteries alone. We do have a generator but seldom use it.

May 22, 2018, in the Sequoia National Forest, south of Grant Grove. That's the Great Western Divide to the southeast. The picture makes it look like the trailer is perched on the edge of a cliff, on top of a steeply sloping granite slab. It's misleading -- there is no cliff, and the slab was reasonably level:

This was a quick three-day trip I recently took in central Colorado the first week of January. We're currently in a drought, with very little snow, but this makes boondocking at 9K feet in the Colorado Rockies possible this time of year.

This is near Horton Creek, on BLM land, northwest of Bishop, Calif., just a week ago (mid-Dec. 2017):

And this is on the Volcanic Tablelands, north of Bishop, a few days later, also on BLM land. We expected the Tablelands to be deserted because it was midweek in December โ€“ wrong! There were plenty of RVs (mostly smaller rigs). A lot of the folks were climbers enjoying the plentiful and challenging โ€œboulderingโ€ opportunities. (Most of them were younger, as you might imagine.)

memtb - great site! Even greater difference between outside temp and inside. 57 is warm compared to the outside!

It was 2 F yesterday morning, when we left camp and my have dropped a degree or two right at sunrise. We keep it cool on the inside, to save on batteries, propane and help us to acclimate to outside temperatures (weโ€™re elk hunting). Our biggest challenge, is to keep the 55 gallon drum of water โ€œthawed-outโ€ to pump into fresh holding tank. Weโ€™ve only had a couple of days where the temp hit the low 30โ€™s. Wrapped the drum in black plastic.....hoping for a little โ€œsolar heatingโ€ during the โ€œsunny hoursโ€!
