We wanted a dedicated 15A outlet for hairdryer, space heater, etc. I wanted a circuit breaker inside so I would not have to go outside.

Don't ask me, I didn't write the code.The way the code might be subject to interpretation though- (article 551.40 paragraph C).
If one outlet that the rig is hooked to is miswired, it could be bad.

It is a Marinco 15A Inlet. I used a 1-7/8" hole saw. It was an expensive purchase, especially since I cannot foresee me cutting many 1-7/8" holes. 🙂 But I wasn't about to free-hand with a jigsaw. Wiring was easy: 1. strip the ends, 2. insert it into the color-coded openings, and 3. tighten the set screws. The black rubber piece is then slid over.

Why should the outlet be GFI? It isn't outside, by a water source, or in a garage. What other requirement calls for GFI? My 2007 Winnebago Outlook 31C has 3 outlets that are not GFI protected, 4 outlets protected by the GFI at the entrance door, and 2 outlets protected by the GFI on the entertainment center's 400w inverter.

OP, nice job. How about a photo of the inside of the socket mounted on the exterior of the RV? I hope that is a male connecter so you don't have to use a suicide cord.

Nice job- though strictly speaking, the outlet should be a GFI, to conform to code. Regardless, for my personal coach I would probably do the same as you.

The breaker is only for additional safety and convenience. We don't plan to use more than a single item (hairdryer, heater, etc) at a time.

In the past, we ran an extension through the storage hatch and into the living area via the laundry shoot. I wanted to make it look "prettier" especially since winter is coming and I know we will make use of the space heater.

Where we usually stay, the 15/20A service is a separate circuit from the 30A service. BUT, I have various adapters including a 50A to 30A+15A adapter. 🙂

So...just to be sure what is at stake here. A hair dryer always (or almost always) pops a breaker and having the breaker close by makes it easier to reset? Won't you still have to stay within the 30 or 20 amps for that leg of power and shed loads when using a high amp device? I wish I was confident enough to attempt wiring projects like this. Very clean job. Don't want DW to see this, she will want one. Can't seem to remember not to make toast, coffee and dry hair at same time.
