Out with the brass, in with the satin nickel

We are replacing all the brass fixtures, cabinet hardware etc in our 5th wheel. The brass looks dated and is starting to flake.

My biggest problem is what to do with the frame on the shower enclosure and the frame on the mirrored closet doors.

Has anyone done this and do you have any suggestions. The only solution I've come up with is to take it all apart and take them to a metal refinisher. I have no idea what it would cost.

I've looked at replacement shower enclosures and they are about $700 new. I went to a local RV salvage dealer but he didn't have anything but the ugly brass I already have.

I think I could paint the mirror door frames but that won't work for the shower frame since it will get wet.

Our first RV would have been a Hitch Hiker but they stuck with the gold fixtures longer than anyone. Just could not stand them I don't blame you for changing them out.

When we remodeled our bathroom in our S&B, DW couldn't find any fixtures she liked & loved the old brass towel racks & toilet paper holder so I refinished them. Prepped them good & sprayed em. She went with brushed nickel faucets so I painted the other fixtures to match. Been little over 4 yrs now & they still look new. Also the brass tic tac toe pattern inside * around the glass block window I painted to match. Prepping is the key.

Yup, paint the metal trim rails. It's easy to do a good job and if you spray a clear coat on top of the finish color paint or use one of the newer ceramic additive paints, the final result will be like the paint on your car.

BTW, have you bought knobs and pulls, yet? I just happen to have about a thousand here, some of them very good quality, NIB. After our yard sale next week, leftovers are going to be sold for scrap. PM me if you need any.

Actually you could paint with a good automotive grade paint or an oil based paint such as Rustoleum. Be sure to prep by either lightly sanding or etching with a mild acid

Do a search online for rv shower enclosures. I found a web site that had lots of different ones for around 3350.0
