Removing Top Bunk Bed

We have a Four Winds Hurricane motor home ('07) and I'd like for my husband to remove the top bunk bed because our 9 year old is too tall to sit on her bed now and cracks her head on it every now and then. We have no use for it, so I'd like it to go. Has anyone removed an upper bunk? It looks like it's pretty well attached. I think the concern is not have a clean removal and really messing things up with the wall. Anyone removed theirs?

Thanks!

I have a 2008 Four Winds Hurricane 34B and need to remove the small TV (it's had it) in the bunk bed area. I have tried everything I know. I can't find a screw or latch or anything. It's on a bracket. But, the bracket doesn't pull out. I called Thor CS and they couldn't answer the question for me. Does any know about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sure, I'd be happy to take pictures next time I'm at the RV storage lot.

Pictures perchance? We have taken out the tvs, but haven't filled the holes yet. Not sure what we're going to do.

Thanks! I searched all over YouTube and couldn't really find anything. I'll check it out!

TV..removed the old tube TV's and put in new digital wide screen TV's so that we never have to get a converter box at some camp grounds again.

We also have a bunk model, but still need the bunks for now. In the future we know we will want to remove the bunks and make an office space. Checkout this link I have bookmarked for future reference. This couple removed their bunks and converted it to an office. Maybe their video will help you.

After the first season I decided to remove that smaller third bed and although the end result worked out fine the problem I ran into was that the screws securing the bed frame to the side and end walls were run in from outside the trailer beforee the outer skin had been installed. Obviously I couldn't access those screw heads from inside the trailer so when I pulled them out they did do a fair amount of damage to the walls inside the trailer. Those along along the curb side of the trailer I managed to hide with a new, higher top for the cabinet sitting below, those on the rear wall I patched and covered over with wall border that was similar in design to that in the rest of the trailer. Obviously I don't know how your particular unit was constructed but it wouldn't surprise me if the bed was secured in a similar manner.

Looks good. We're thinking the same thing about our bunks. If we can unscrew the platform from the bolted section (attached to the outside wall) then it'll work. I don't mind not having a total removal of the bunk, as long as the front facing frame and platform the bed rests on can be removed. We'll have to take a look next time we're in the RV.

We recently replaced the front TV and bedroom TV, huge improvement!

We have the same rv, I want to do the same thing (or at least hinge it so that it is out of the way. I haven't figured out how to do it, so really, I'm no help! But if you want to remove your front tv, I'm your woman!
