2 people and a Miata.

I've been wading through web sites for a couple of weeks and haven't found what I'm looking for. I wondering if anyone makes a hauler with about 13' of Miata space, that once unloaded makes a comfortable camper for 2 people. I think it should be a 5th wheel, so maybe a rear bed room, front lounge.

The car is 156" x 66" and weighs 2100 pounds. Any idea where to look for such an animal?

Thanks. I'll peck around for owner vids and pics of WnP. Might be a good option.

I never think to take a pic inside. Lol. Tons of them online, and YouTube videos as well. The ramp on the WnP is rated for 5,000 lbs IIRC.

Research the WnP a bit. They have some drawbacks and extra maintenance needs because of their roof and FRP construction, but ours was nearly half the cost of an aluminum enclosed trailer with living quarters. 30k vs 58k.

My 30fbw also has a unreal tongue weight. The 01 dually that delivered it has aftermarket overloads and it was squatting noticably without WDH. I ended up buying a sway pro 2000 and air bags for my 2500, but recently went to a 3500 srw.

I'd be afraid of the ramp door breaking. Not sure what they are rated for.

Ramp break over will be the big issue. I didn't get the dove tail on my Work and Play, wish I did. The WnP is lower than other TH and thought I was golden. After pulling my exhaust off and tearing up some edging loading my Barracuda I learned in a hurry that I had to drive the rear wheels of my truck up on blocks. Mine is the WnP30FBW. They make a 26, 28, and 30 like this. If you do go with WnP, upgrade the straps that hold the dinette up and add straps to the couch. BTW, the WnP30FBW has about 21' of garage space, has huge empty tongue weight, but tows straight with 2 RZR loaded in, and is pretty spartan compared to your glitzier glampers. You can order with opti ok nal dove tail and an escape door on the drivers side as an option. With the bed up, we had a rain day and let the 3yr old ride her bike around inside.

Ramp break over will be the challenge. I once put a Honda Civic in a bumper pull ToyHauler. I had to get the tongue high in the air and put a board across the bottom ramp transition.

So, there's a Grand Design Momentum plan with a front living room, but it won't have room for your Miata in the "garage" as the garage in that one is more meant for a motorcycle. I feel like I've seen one other front living room model ever, but I can't remember what it was! None of these are less than 32' though. As I'm sure you've already discovered, finding a 5th wheel trailer with a 13' garage but only 32' is going to be a challenge, if not impossible.

Heartland Cyclones have a few unique floor plans (like a front bath), but none of those will have a 13' garage.

Look at the car hauler style trailers with living quarters from Work and Play, Feather Lite, InTech and Millennium. They should have what you are looking for and some offer nice interiors while others are more utilitarian.

We went from a toy hauler to a truck camper towing an enclosed trailer. We like it enough that we are upgrading our current truck camper with one slide to a make and model with three slides this Spring. It gives us the flexibility to bring the garage along when we want it and leave it at home when we just want a quick unencumbered getaway.

I think there are many that will "fit" the car inside, it is getting it in there. Your problem is going to be finding a ramp angle that that won't cause the Miata to bottom out going up the ramp and into the trailer.

I would look at "work and play" brand, they might have a low enough deck to be able to get it in there.

I've never tried it, but I'm pretty sure my 2007 Miata will fit in my 2006 Rage'n 3450 5th wheel. But you have a very good point about the ramp angles. My Miata is lowered, making it even worse. Both the front bottom lip (air dam) of the Miata possibly hitting the ramp when first approaching the ramp - and then again getting into the trailer and possibly high siding the Miata, although the floor is angled at the back of the trailer.

If you got the bucks, a hi-end company will build it for you.

Not those kinds of bucks. I'll have to wait til somebody who does have the bucks has one built. I think that's where the RV companies get the best ideas to bring to market.

A couples' camper with a rear bed that sleeps 3; the couple plus their roadster. 32' and GVWR 12,500. Yeah, right.
