Planning to buy a Artic fox 28-5 with a gross weight of 15700 lbs when fully loaded. I have a good deal on a B&W Patriot 16000 lbs of tow weight is this to close to max weight of RV or go with a 18000 lbs tow hitch .

Go with the 18K

I agree , when I went to a 15,500 GVWR fifth wheel, I got rid of my 16K ,and went with 18K

Another vote for the added padding/margin....

I just had the Patriot 16k installed and I was very pleased with how easy the hitching and unhitching was. If it was me I'd go with the 18k. I just feel better when I'm not pushing the max.

I think that you will be happy with the Patiot.

Yes thank you for good advice I think I'll go with the 18000 B&W. Why take a chance for another couple hundred dollars.

B&W hitches are designed to use at max rating, so if a super good deal on the 16K, I'd use it. The 18K Patriot is the same hitch, but the base is welded together, rather than bolted. Normally the price difference is only about $100.

Iโ€™d go with the 18,000. We tow a Cardinal with a GVWR of 18,000 with the 20,000 companion. Never know what lies ahead.
