We are about to buy a newer truck. It will be a 2017 F350. We'll be pulling a Solitude which weighs about 12,650 lbs. empty. What hitch would you recommend for that setup?

Another happy BW owner here. 2 pieces about 50 pounds each and so solid in the puck system . Had a curt slider before and that thing was 250 pounds!!!!

I’ve had 4 or 5 different hitches. Finally got convinced to get B& W. It’s a puck hitch. Best hitch I’ve ever used. I’ve used Pullright and it’s good but my current truck is DRW long bed. B&W is perfect.

I own a 2017 350 Platinum and they don't have 4.10 gears. Maybe you are buying a dually?

Had and still do have a Reese 16k sitting in my shed that I used for several years. IMO, thought it was a decent hitch at that time for coach we had. When we got the new RV, wanted something a little more HD and decided on the B&W 18K Patriot as I already had rails in truck. One of the best decisions I made. Sadly tho, I was at and over some weight limits on the truck, so ended up getting a DRW and still the use of rails. Went w/ B&W's and OMG talk about HD!!! Thought that Reese was decent as that's what I uses on previous truck. B&W's rails are massive for rails. To the point, all I can say is this is one very satisfied user of B&W's products. In fact just installed a B&W adjustable/turnover ball to yank snowmobile trailer around and this thing is heavy. Whew!! I could have went w/ another brand, but based on use of their products already, was an easy choice. Not sure if we will ever upgrade to a heavier RV, but if we do, you can bet there will be a B&W hooking to it.

I'm all in on the B&W, as stated it can be hitched and unhitched with RV and Truck on different planes no issue. They are simple and solid with no question if your hitched connections. B&W's head pivot point is right at the kingpin's height. All of B&W's products are Made In USA.

I am looking to get a new F350 and hitch. I have had the Reese which served me well, but I am looking at the Blue Ox super ride. https://www.blueoxtowbars.com/categories/Blue_Ox_Fifth_Wheel_Hitches,1688 It appears strong (20K), light and innovative. Anyone with experience with it? I know its new, but I hope some one had some experience with it. If so please be speicic about pros and cons. Thanks.

You will get a better response by starting your own thread especially on a long thread like this one. After a time some members may not feel like monitoring more of the same so most can miss your question.
That way your not hijacking the OP thread.

I asked about this hitch sometime back and I don't remember getting any responses. They look great and I like the design but then discovered they aren't so light weight. According to the website the hitch that attaches to a goose neck ball weighs 210 pounds and the model for rails is 180 pounds. I was looking to replace my Trailer Saver BD3 because it was getting heavy for me at 160 pounds, even though it does separate in 2 pieces. I have a Reese Goose Box on order so all I will have to lift is the 5 pound goose neck ball.

I've had both the B&W Companion (2 of them actually, upgraded from an older one to a newer one).

I only got rid of the B&W because my toy hauler was heavier than mine was rated for (20k for the post-mount version that mates up to their Turnoverball Gooseneck hitch).

I have nothing bad to say about my B&W. I had it from 2012-2018 and put many thousands of miles on it.

After getting rid of it, it took me 2 tries to end up with the Trailersaver TS3.

The good:
- the ride with the Trailersaver is awesome.
- the customer service is amazing.

The bad:
- the cost was pert near $3,000 for a new hitch.
- it's stupidly heavy at 300 lbs. but TS said it was fine for me to hang it from the kingpin.

The comparison - if our last move is pulling forward, it's not uncommon for the pin to be bound up against the head. We've had a tad bit of difficulty unhitching a couple of times now. I never experienced this with the B&W regardless of what my last move was - forward, backwards, using a crane and going sideways (ok, I didn't do that last one).

The ride is a bit better with the TS3 than the B&W but surprisingly not incredibly so.

Someone suggested getting the hitch that's available locally - Etrailer.com will drop ship your B&W companion directly to your house - for free.

Thank you for the reply! I was referring to the DOT part. I should have specified.

I believe I have read somewhere CURT has some sort of standard, SAE possibly?

Curt tests to SAE J2638.

Thanks, knew I read something about that.

I wonder of the testing is in China. :B

If you don't have to remove your hitch often, the Trailer Saver BD-5 is the Rolls Royce of all hitches . This is just my humble opinion

I love my BD3 and would never go back to a standard hitch again.

I checked on the Reese Goose Box. It says made to CSA (Canadian Standards Association) and SAE J2638 standards. Good to know. Thanks for pointing this out.
