5th wheel hitches

We are about to buy a newer truck. It will be a 2017 F350. We'll be pulling a Solitude which weighs about 12,650 lbs. empty. What hitch would you recommend for that setup?

Besides "two men and a boy" removal, there are E-Z solution/s for the PR SG or other heavy hitches:
(take your pick)

1. Harbor Freight electric hoist. Suspend from a garage rafter -or- from a 4 x 6 between two stationary, solid objects. One button lift! Remove, drive out from under, lower it onto a furniture dolly. Roll to your storage spot.

2. "Cherry Picker" type of engine hoist. Roll hoist to the back of your truck. Lift out, roll back (or drive forward) - then to dolly as above.

Have both of the above (see "bonus", below).

3. Although those two are the best - there are still other inexpensive choices - chain hoist, shop crane, etc.

Bonus! All/any of the above are handy for other chores...:C

For a 12,000 pounds, I would recommend already using gooseneck. Using https://www.levittownfordparts.com/sku/hc3z-19d520-b.html on my super duty. I feel like this sways less compared to the regular hitch at the back.

I did also along with ordering a set of Michelin’s since the NEXEN’s are horrible tires.

my ordered long bed 2020 has the pucks.. The firs thing I did once signing for the truck was secure a B&W Companion, OEM 20k

Regarding the OLD arguments on Andersen vs B&W, we are not going down that road again. Keep it up and the thread WILL be closed or deleted.

I’d like to know as well. I’ve used an Andersen and was quite happy with it, even though I now use a B & W. There are well known accounts of a few people who have destroyed a single Andersen during some unusual circumstances, but for someone to have destroyed 2 of them...I’d have to believe there is some user-error involved here.

I now use a B&W 18K Patriot . I have had aReese 16k and destroyed 2 Andersens :S before giving in. A Traisaver would be only other brand I would consider now.
