I have a 2013 Montana and I want to install a heat strip in the AC. Can this be done and does anyone know if it might be pre-wired to the thermostat

We have the 2013 Montana also. When we ordered the unit they said we
could not get the heat strip or heat pump. So we went with the Fire Place which works very well and is much quieter. It heats the unit
on chilly nights and mornings. We really don't miss the heat strip
or heat pump at all. If you can add a Fire Place in place of a cabinet that might not be a bad idea. Usually there is a cabinet in or around the living room area that you had the option to add the optional Fire Place. The Fire Place has a 1500W heater built in. Or just go with the 1500W heater as others have said. Hope that this helps.

We have two heat pumps and just like the ac they are zoned. They work well and keep us warm.

We had one for 8 years and loved it. You use the elec you already paid for. It took the chill off. Yes there is some noise like an unvented AC, but for Texas we enjoyed ours.

Normally it will require a new control box in the a/c unit itself as well as a new thermostat that has both gas heat and elec heat settings. As mentioned above some do not like the heat strips, but we were happy when we had them in our MH.

I put one in one of my TT's and found they don't work all that well. even on low speed the A/C moves too much air to have any beneficial effect. you just feel all the time. for what they charge you for one you are better off buying two little ceramic heaters and use them.

We installed a second A/C in the bed room with heat strip. I agree with posts above it is noisy, and moves too much air. It's ok we we leave and leave it running. It's warm when we return. We use small electric heaters. Always remember need some regular house heat to keep underbelly warm. I've also used a light bulb in underbelly just for insurance.

I had a heat strip in the air conditioner of a previous RV. I really did not like it. Too much air flow for the amount of heat. I found that a small 1500watt portable heater worked much better.
Newer units may be better.

Since Montana didn't manufacture the A/C unit we'll need to know which brand/model of A/C unit you have?
