Any haulers with 20 foot cargo length?

Hi all. I'm new to RVing and hauling but I have an 18 foot "toy" that I want to take with me camping to various places across the US. I'm trying to decide between buying a toy hauler vs. buying a 30' motorhome pulling a 20' enclosed trailer. The motorhome-pulling-a-trailer idea sounds like a 55' train of disaster just waiting to happen, but the problem with toy haulers is that most of them only have a 10'-12' "cargo area". My toy is just a little over 18 feet long (but only a few feet wide at the ends). Does anyone have any suggestions on any toy haulers like that? Personally I'd just settle on a bare bones 20' enclosed trailer but the misses wants a bed to sleep on and a bathroom to pee in and the usual stuff like that... go figure 🙂 Also I don't own a tow vehicle yet so I'm leaning towards a 5th wheel as opposed to a TT (for stability and handling advantages etc.)

I'm using a 45' race trailer conversion. 22' of garage. No slides. Its great for just the two of us, the dog and TOYS !

Most 28' toy haulers with an open garage are just at 12' +/- to the first kitchen cabinet then another 4' +/- into the far end of the kitchen. The next big step up from there are the 37' TH which have about 16' to the first cab. Eclipse/Stellar units have a 32' TH with 16' that weighs around 9500# dry/ 12500 GVWR as opposed to the 37' ones that are about 12-13k dry.

I have a friend with the 35' version of that WW I think he's got about 15/16'.

With the wgt he's gonna be towing I would def get a 5er.

I have 21' of totally open cargo to my first cabinet.
I have a 41' toy hauler with no slides.
I picked out the right floor plan to accomodate my cargo.
Living quarters/layout were secondary for me.

Get whatever length trailer you want and a 10-16' living quarter, plus 8' bed over the goose (if you get a GN).

Check out Work and Play I believe the 30 FBW has a garage that's big and it's a bumper pull. The problem will be little living space when the toy is inside.

They make Fifth wheels with garages that more room when hauling the toys Like the FK models. But you will need a Heavy Duty 3/4 or 1 ton to haul it.

Something I found out that Motorhomes unless your buying a big diesel pusher are not designed to tow alot of weight. Motorhomes have frame extentions welded on them to accommodate the body of the MH. Plus, they are close to max gross weight even without a trailer. I have a couple of friends that had to spend a few thousand to upgrade the frames on their Motor Homes so the could tow over 5000lbs...

a 30 ft motorhome and a 20 ft trailer doesn't seem that big a deal to me. I had a 34 ft motorhome and towed a dakota pickup which had to be about the same.

Your looking for an open floor plan fifth wheel. If in the used market I know Tahoe made them. My friend has a 38' that has over 18' of cargo space. Not sure if anyone is building them new. You would have to do some searching.

If you dry camp get a trailer. A MH & trailer with toy will love fuel. I would think some 40' 5th wheel TH will accomodate that depending on floor plan. And they will carry over 100 gal of fresh and have larger grey & blk tanks also. And the fuel station will eliminate carrying fuel cans. Now this is just my opinion. I've had TH'ers for 15 yrs so I am biased. Good luck with your search.

You couldn't hold a gun on me and get me to pull a tongue pull that size & wgt. Don't think you'll find much in that type that will work for you.
