Camper Lengths??

I've started looking to purchase my first camper (30'-35' toy haulers mainly) and have many questions.

One of which is, when I'm looking online at all of the various toy hauler manufacturer websites, I am confused about the posted lengths. Does that generally refer to the overall length (hitch ball to rear bumper) or is that the camper box size that sits on the trailer frame? And is this different for TT's versus 5th wheels?

Not sure I would say the numbers are not accurate...I would say you need to be aware that most model numbers refer to the box/enclosure size. When an "overall length" is provided, it is accurate. When only the box size if given, actual length from ball to rear bumper is generally 3-4ft more than the box.

Again, its not an inaccuracy, its something to be aware of when you are shopping.

Thanks for the replies. I knew that the model numbers weren't all that accurate with respect to length...just a guide generally. But I was really meaning when you go to the specifications page of the manufacturer websites and they say 31'-4", for example. I just didn't know what that meant because they don't show a dimension on the floor plan sketch showing what that measures.

when I was shopping I was shocked at how inaccurate the model numbers were, don't understand most of them. When I found the one I bought it was the only one that was accurate. My Rage'n 3005 is 30'-5" nose to tail (not including pin box).

When you go look at them in person, take a 50' tape with you. Enjoy shopping.

I believe it means the forward most point to the rearmost point, not including ladder.
And forget model numbers. My 3075RL is listed as 34'-8". Have not actually measured it.

I know my "32 foot" bumper tow measure is the inside walls of the box (32'). The actual end to end is a couple inches over 35 feet.

It does mean it's well over 32 feet but it's never been a problem, I just insist on the longer spots (40) when in a campground. Most of the time I'm in the desert and it doesn't matter at all.
Don't take life too seriously, it's not permanent.

Manufacturer websites are more accurate than dealer websites with most measuring from hitch to rear bumper while dealer sites tend to go with model number when displaying length.

Our TT TH model number is about 5' short of actual hitch ball to rear ramp length, going by model number will usually lead to a bit longer rig when actually measured. Enjoy your new TH!!!
