Going from a short bed with a Pullrite Super Glide to a long bed where we don't require a slide hitch. Does anyone have any comments regarding the Curt Hitch, good , bad or otherwise? Any first hadn experience will be appreciated.

Thanks!

We have a Q20 Curt and LOVE it! We had a Reese 16k with our last 5vr. Comparing both this one is quieter and seems to be a smoother ride.

Those jaws are more than sufficient on the Curt...on the E16 of the slide bar was coming out then the hitch was defective...handle down = Locked....And it's a $275 ish hitch...you do not get top quality hitches for that money.

The Q20 in the picture above is a BIG heavy hitch. That center section is a block of solid steel...not bolted together sheet metal. The jaws are more than sufficient and the lockout mechanism is secure.

Not trashing the B&W it's a fine hitch too...

Thanks!

How about compare the 20K Curt with the 20K B&W or the B&W RVK3600 to the equivalent Curt.

I had a Curt Q16 and I upgraded to the B&W Patriot. I went with the Patriot because I didnt have to change the rails to make the upgrade.

The Curt Q16 was the biggest POS I have ever seen. There was no provision to latch the slide bar and every time I would get to the campground the bar would be slid out and wedged at an angle. It got to the point where i was putting a ratchet strap on the handle to secure the hitch. Any company that would come up with a dangerous system like that will never see another dime of my money no matter how "good" the rest of their products are.

There seems to be a lot of negative comments along with how after they fixed or figured it out it worked fine comments on here about the Curt hitches.

A hitch should be simple to use without any indicators or fancy anything. It should be solid and simple to use no matter the brand.

I love my Curt Q20. It's quiet, reliable, easy to hitch and unhitch, and you know instantly when you're properly hooked up. The hitch is solid and heavy and I've never had any troubles with it.

Grey one is USA made!

Black one is china made!

Mine is grey, could have got a black one at a wholesale price but passed that up.

Look at the size difference on the jaws!

Black = thin
Grey = thick

Study how the jaws are locked closed. Grey has a dual end cam piece that blocks the jaws from opening.

Comparing apples to apples....The B&W RVK3300 weighs 153 lbs while the Curt Q20 (16035) weighs 164 lbs. Looks can be deceiving.

The only hitch I've owned is a Curt 20K and have been very happy with it. Not sure why anyone would recommend against it. It hitches, it unhitches, it's quiet...what else would you want? My guess would be that you probably wouldn't go wrong with just about any hitch.

"Reese make a 25k hitch to drop into the Ford fifth wheel prep kit.... Not sure why B&W won't rate their hitch accordingly"

Because B&W rates their hitches conservatively. Just look at the ridiculous 24K rating of the Andersen and then compare it to s B&W Companion that is rated at 20K.

Bottom line if you are in the market for a non air ride hitch there in none better than the B&W hitches. Just compare the simple solid design to any other hitch out there before buying.

If it matters a lot of REESE hitches are made in Mexico if not all and ALL of CURT 5th wheel hitches are now made in CHINA. PullRite as far as I know are made in USA as is the full line of B&W products.

Hitch in pic B&W RVK3600 25K towing and 6,250# pin.

Not disputing that at all..but the Reese 25k has the same rating and is a significant hitch as well... No reports of failures or major issues with the Reese 25k elite.

I share your sentiment about the Andersen....there is at least one report on an Amazon review where the Anndersen socket cracked. Now it's an Amazon review so TIFWIW....but the kingpin socket is where I would expect the failures to be with the Andersen...not so much the hitch itself but the kingpin adaptor.

Thanks!

I went from a Husky Slider to a Curt Q5 20k. The Husky didn't care how you hit the pin it worked. The Curt is a little more picky until you figure it out. It doesn't like the "ride it up the ramp" or being much off level side to side. Once you figure that out it's a much quieter and smoother riding hitch than the Husky. I changed because I never used the slider and I put the TV on a diet.
