We just purchased a 1996 Park Avenue Electric. It is in really good condition for the age. I have taken down some of the curtain panels and washing them. The valance part is on a form of some kind so I have not taken it off the wall. Looks like the form is screwed in and the actual fabric is secured to the form, I think by staples. Am assuming I should not take fabric off. Can anyone tell me what I can do to clean this portion without taking off the wall?

There are a million staples in those valances. Once you remove the staples, it is easy to replace the fabric.

Thanks for the advice. I don't have the money to purchase any fabric at all and if I did would still probably not do it. I have a hard time with some fine motor things with one hand, I know it would be too frustrating/overwhelming because I also have a bit of a thought progression problem from mini stroke years ago. I have had to learn to just do best I can. I don't want to wait for help to remove, wash and put back on so for now will just vacuum really well and probably use a fabric spray. BUT thank you for the ideas. I will eventually get fabric and have someone help me re do it.

Just unscrew it, remove the fabric and recover with the your choice. redoing the valances, will do a lot to freshen up the unit. Not sure but there is probably a youtube video on this too.

Why not take off the fabric? If that fabric is from 1996 it probably needs to be replaced due to odors absorbed or dust or whatever. If there is any padding underneath I would change that too. I changed out a fabric covered headboard on a 5th wheel. I don't think you need any special skills, just remove the old fabric to use as a pattern and buy new fabric, install with a staple gun. You will probably really like the results!
