Electric Awning Problem

While camping the last 2 weeks at MPTP my electric awning started acting funny. The inside awning switch quit working, it will not bring the awning in or out but I can use the remote and move it in or out. Yesterday while DW was cleaning up and i had some other items that need repaired or adjusted I checked all of the fuses and replaced the switch and it still does not work. Does anybody have any ideas where i should start looking so i can get this fixed.

Best thing is to actuate the remote and listen very carefully. The receiver unit will "click' when actuated. Usually just a very short press of the button will cause a click. Either press the in or out direction will be enough to energize it. Do this as often as needed, until you can locate where the unit is located.

My remote receiver is mounted on the side wall, under the stairs. And beside the entrance door. The converter is mounted under the stairs. One stair tread flips up to show the converter. I had a heck of a time when looking for the remote receiver. The above description is how I found the location. I had to remove the the air grid on the front of the stairs, and reach around to the wall to work on the receiver.

I don't think anyone can give you good info.....without knowing the brand and model of awning in question. If it is a Dometic A&E awning the later model modules have a small internal fuse on the inside. Seems like it's a very low amp fuse like 1 amp. But I believe if it was open you'd not have any operation, manual switch or remote. rockin'

There should be a electric circuit board with a antenna near your battery. Where should be a inline fuse there check it and check your voltages coming out of the board .

Usually in the battery compartment with all the other in-line breakers etc. Mine is in the front compartment on my cougar. Hoping someone will chime in that has had experience with troubleshooting the module.

The switch has six pins on it. top and bottom have 12 volts middle has 0. when using the remote the middle has 12 volts.

Auy idea where the module could be?

Do you have power to the switch you just replaced? If so, there may be a break in the wire going out to the motor. The other thought is...does the power from the switch come and go (both ways) from the remote module? I know that using the remote disables the switches for those things that the remote is controling at that instant. Could be that your module is acting up.
