Finally building an RV Garage at the house

Very excited to say after talking about it for a long time, we finally pulled the trigger a few weeks ago on a workshop with attached RV garage. The slab was poured before Christmas and then the weather got crappy. Steel frame erection was started early this week and then weather got crappy again. Hoping framework is finished this next week. We picked out tin colors today :). I am so ready to bring our 5er to the house as it will make it much easier to get ready for a trip and I just really like the idea of it being at home instead of storage lot. It will be completely protected from the elements when not being used (Texas Sun is a biggie) and it will be plugged into 50amp service all the time.
Just felt like sharing my excitement ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you! I am just ready for completion. Our electrician friend has a day job that prevents him from coming during the week so he won't be back until Saturday which has us at a short standstill. All he has left is to install electrical (including lights, RV 50 amp plug and outside security light) on the RV side. He already finished the shop side. We are going to skin the inside walls 8' up with metal once he is finished with electrical. We had the shop plumbed for a bathroom but we will finish that later on our own. Our contractor has all three roll up doors ordered and will install them last. Hopefully the entire project will be finished by the end of next week and we can get the driveway done so we can move the RV home just in time to pack for some long awaited weekend trips :). Camping season...LOVE IT!

We are going to have a roll up door installed there. We had planned on using a garage type insulated door but decided against it due to the overhead space it would take up.

When my new truck wouldn't fit:

1. Assuming there is adequate ceiling height
2. Removed 2" header at top of door.
3. Trimmed with thin pastic fascia
4. Tacked 2" board to top of door
5. In goes truck

Assumes door is high enough when open to clear

Thank y'all very much. We are very excited and hoping weather cooperates to get it finished in the next couple of weeks. I'll post more pics as more is done. After roof is completed and electrical is done, we will be lining the interior walls of shop area only with metal 8' up. It is certainly taking shape out there.

I had an rv port that was home made.....a tree fell on it so I got a larger/taller steel building to replace it.....I could not get a suitable door at the time....after it was built I had a local metal company fabricate a door for it. I then went to a local mobile home supply place and bought a pre hung mobile home door for the side....It is great to be able to do mods and maintenance right in my back yard with out having to drive to a storage lot.....It is also nice being able to have the slides open and get around the sides and to the back and front....plus it does not fade or get dirty and being under lock and key and under my control at all times......
