If your husband doesn't want a "project" then it seems kinda insensitive to bring it home anyway.
Now if it's just you that would have to work on it then it's worth considering. But I think any purchase like this should be agreed upon by both parties.
This is your biggest issue!!!
If DH doesn't want a project, you will not be having any fun. DH will need to WANT to take on a project. I would also look to get the price down to around $3,000 to $2,500.
Skill levels, are you both strong home handy persons and have the necessary tools to do a lot of the work?
Great brand, you would be money ahead to get a experienced RV repair person to look it over, they know what signs to look for, likely to cost about $200, BUT may give you a real idea of what is bad.
DW and I did this with a 1986 King of the Road, it was in sad shape, VERY soft floor in the back, but a Beautiful Older Lady, we both went in eyes open. We only paid $1,500 for her, before we left town on the 150 mile tow home, tire store and $400 for new tires.
Then the soft floor, about $400 in materials and a month of weekends and evenings after work. The last item was bad refer, we bought a rebuilt cooling unit for $395 exchange, and replaced the couch for $100 (just old), so total about $1,300 and many hours of labor.
We used this trailer for three years, and loved every trip! When we decided to move up in size we sold it for $3,000. So in the long run it was a good investment, it also was a safe entry in to getting back to RVing.
Many stating to Run Forest Run, have never even tried. One thing too keep in mind is hidden damage! So not only the bad floor, we needed to replace the framing for 2/3 of the back wall, a small corner of the curb side of the side wall, and about 6' x2' area of the street side and the plywood wheel well box. The framing repairs were far more time than money.
Good Luck!!!
