For those with no bathroom access during travel mode.

We would like bathroom access during travel mode, but are considering purchasing one without. Our last three all had access so would be very different. Have you regretted not having access to bathroom? Or has it been no big deal? Do you put your slide out when stopping at rest areas or gas stations, or on side of road? We are not just weekend campers going to nearby places. Travel a lot out west!

We passed up a few 5th wheels that didn't have bathroom or bedroom access with the slides in. We travel with the great grandkids sometimes, and have had to stop at off ramps for emergency uses. Telling kids to hold it for the next gas station or rest stop just isn't feasible sometimes.

Our present Momentum doesn't have access to the fridge with the slides in, but not a big deal. Food breaks are rarely of the emergency sort. 🙂

We have no bathroom access on our trailer. It's not a big problem.

We use the restrooms at gas stations or rest areas. Or we stop in a parking lot and put the slide out for a few minutes.

In the Age of Covid we avoid public rest rooms like the plague. Yes we pull into the Rest Areas, but use our own facilities as we know who sat on that seat last.

Have to have access to bathroom and frig, wouldn't have one without. At my age you can't "hold" it until the next place, you have to pull off and get it done.

One of several things that was at the top of list for us, fully accessable to bathroom. If you ever get a case of the Texas Two Trots or puking going down the road, believe you me you will be happy it was a "have to have".

Access to fridge, bathroom, bedroom, Theater seat and TV; closed. We removed the couch and put in a second theater seat.

Access to bathroom & kitchen (fridge especially) would be very high on our list. There would have to be powerful incentive to get something without those.

Mine has full unimpeded bathroom access during travel (it has its own door) - I've never used the bathroom during travel. I always use rest stops, gas stations, etc. One a list of the 100 most important things for me to consider in a RV, bathroom access during travel wouldn't even make the list.
So you're traveling down the freeway at 70 mph. What are you going to do, pull off on the shoulder to use the bathroom while traffic flys by at 70-80 mph - I don't think so (at least I would never do that). Rest areas or next exit always seems to have the accommodations needed.

If we decide to stay at a Rest Area we look for a spot we can put out one slide. We have access to watch TV, Refrigerator, Theater seat and couch. Restroom we use the Facilities. Works fine for us and costs $0.

We love our trailer for other reasons so having no bed and bath access was obviously not a deal killer. In hindsight, if shopping again, easy access would be very high on my priority list.

For us fridge access for loading is more important. We don't keep our camper at the house, so we will park on the street if we are doing a quick load or unload and can unload the fridge without extending the slide.
Our driveway is sloped, so if we back in, we have to unhook and level to put the slide out.
Most of the time traveling you can park at a place level enough to put the slide part way out.

In before times I would say not a problem. But now, it would be a deal breaker. Depending on the state and where you are some places are still closed. This past november while going to Florida from NJ some fast food places off the hyways had drive through only, so no access to there bathrooms or food as we couldn't use the drive through. Addtionally, there were other places that had the store open , but bathrooms closed due to covid. While this isnt always the case, it adds time and inconvenience to a stop. The ability to have your own bathroom and food would avoid this. The main rest areas , truck stops , were open. But not all areas/states have them. Plus sommetimes they are too far away to be useful.

Bath and bed completely accessible up the stairs. Both of us can slide between the slide and the front counter to get to the fridge. We would never even look at a RV without access to the bath and bed with slides in.
