Fresh Water Filters

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good in-line water filter?
I want one that I can use when filling the fresh water tank from outside sources as well as in full service campgrounds.
The local RV supply has the "Systems IV" tube type filter.....does anyone have experience with this type?
Thanks for your advice.

I bypassed the built in filter because it's difficult to change and winterize, and just use the inline ones from Walmart. I haven't had any issues with stuff growing in them from storage between uses. Maybe freezing or chilling them is a good idea. I'll try that this coming season.

I didn't even think about an issue trying to re-use the cheap blue in-line filters since we are full timers. Good point though. You probably would have to drain, cap, and store in a cool place if you were going to store one for awhile.

Just be mindful that they are not reusable, when you remove them for a week they grow the stuff inside you wanted to get out.

I dont leave mine in the trailer but drain it, put the end caps back on and keep it in the fridge at home until next time

They are good to keep the sediment out of your water lines and stopping up the strainers at your faucets. Will post a filter that is suppose to clean the water, clear the taste, and backflusable for the lifetime you own the filter. Was at the homebuilder's convention 2 weeks ago and got the info. cost a lots I MEAN a lots $650.00. infor to be posted when I get back to the office and folders.

We just use the blue cheap ones from Walmart. We visit numerous CG's during the year and some are on well water and the cheap filters seem to do pretty good. Use bottled water for consumption anyway.

Charcoal filters remove chlorine. I would just as soon leave it in for filling the fresh water tank. It will gas off in a few days anyway.

You can lead a horse to water.
You cannot make it drink.

Check Lowes and Home Depot for full house water filters. The clear housings will become brittle over time so try to get the solid one. Then in the plumbing section find the Watts brass fittings and find the 3/4npt to water hose fitting. 1 on each side and you can put it inline on your hose. You can use a wide range of filters in them from .5micron to 5mic, carbon filters, ceramic, etc.

JMHO. I bought a whole house filter housing from Amazon. Approx $15, and 5 micron charcol filters about $5 to $6 each. Installed hose fittings on housing. Works for me. Much cheaper than going to RV filter system. Or you can pay much more $$$$ with RV attached to to the filter brand.

I have a whole house filter in the 5'ver but it can slow down the water pressure at some campgrounds and when that happens I just get the one from Wal-Mart it's 5 microns which is not bad at all - my whole house is 1 micron
