Fresh water flows out of City connection

Suddenly, when I run my water pump for using on-board water, the water spews out of the city connection. What's that all about? Didn't happen yesterday when I used it.
I have a Shurflo 4008-101-E65 rated at 55 psi. It replaced a 40 psi pump.
Is there some sort of back-flow preventer that's not preventing backflow through the system?

If you want to try and repair it this might help:

This seems to be a common problem this time of year. I seem to remember several posts on this same subject.

Yup. I've frozen two of those out. Plug/cap it until you're ready to replace it and you're good to go and enjoy Spring.

The screw in plug to block water from exiting the fitting is available at any store that sells RV supplies, Walmart has them for about $1.00. They even come with a lanyard to attach to your RV so the plug will not get lost.

The replacement valve is under $20.00. You need to look at the way your current one is connected as the replacement valves are available for connecting to both male and female fittings. You need to know which you need.

It's an easy fix.

Thanks to you all. I'll look into fixing it, but for now it's easiest to buy a plug...though I like that garden hose shutoff idea.

YEP........inside the city water connection is a plunger/spring/o-ring assembly (check valve)

Remove screened washer and then with pressure relieved (open faucet cold side) you can try to reset by pushing in on tip of plunger....sometimes that works.

Sometimes the o-ring gets dislodged and then you have to remove city water connection from side of rig, disconnect plumbing line and then disassemble to fix.

I hate them cause they are cheap plastic junk.

I installed a garden hose 90* and then a garden hose shut-off valve.
They stay connected to connection on side of my 5vr (same set up on black tank flush)

Valve closed....when using pump
Valve open when using hose

DONE!

You can also just screw in a 3/4" PVC plug when using pump
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Exactly what it is. If you are lucky you may be able to reseat the sprung seal from outside, otherwise the inlet needs replacing.
