Fridge WOES......Again

Hi all,

2008 WW CR3705 with the Dometic RM3862 fridge. I have been balls deep into this fridge several times. The first was the ciruit board. I bought one from dinosaur electronics and it worked well for a year. The same board had an ignitor issue and the board was warrantied. Long story short this current board is the third in a series of "warranty" boards.

So I plugged my trailer in on Tuesday (flat ground). The freezer and fridge are perfect by the 24 hr mark. Come Friday I went to load a bag of ice into the freezer and the thing was warmer than it should be. I checked all lights, fuses and it was all in check. No "CHECK" light on.....nothing.

Needless to say I transferred over to propane (bled the lines and all was good...fridge burner/pilot on). I got to my destination and it was 68*

I am so sick and tired of this unpredictable fridge and/or the dinosaur board.

I am going to get into to it tomorrow and check the obvious but at this point I am at a loss.

Any ideas on what might be the issue?

Is the fridge done?

Thank you
Joe

I know its a bit off topic but this issue is typical of most of the RV industry. The use the cheapest parts and slap it together. I have had issues with multiple RV fridges. I wont have another that not residential.

Sorry for your fridge woes. Look on the bright side it hasn't caught fire yer

What's that old saying, if it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all.

I received the coils and of course UPS the box was destroyed and ruined some components.

I contacted the company and they are going to ship out another unit. I am delayed but not much I can do now except hope the next is not ruined.

Thanks JB! Mine is green, but I think my old one was too. I guess we'll see if mine keeps working.

From my experience they are "green" but no dinosaur logo of any type.

He also mentioned to NEVER buy dometic circuit boards and confirmed that dinosaur electronics are what he recommends both for customer service and reliability....just an FYI

I have had Dometic fridge problems and 2 new boards. Does the Dinosaur board say Dinosaur on it somewhere? Reason I ask, the shop that ordered my board for me said they only order Dinosaur, but the board they sold me doesn't say it anywhere. Made me suspicious...the guy wasn't the most pleasant to deal with.

Nah. I talked to the rep from arctic cold coils and he explained that after 1999 the coils on the dometic model I own were cheaply manufactured in China. He also stated that he has seen fridges as new as 2014 fail because of the same construction flaws.

After this rebuild my fridge should be problem free for a long while.

I cannot imagine much heat so foam should work fine.

Anybody have an opinion?

Thank you

I cleaned up the cavity where the fridge sits and removed the two pieces of 16"x 60" fiberglass insulation. Is it necessary to reinstall the same type of insulation or can I use an alternative like insulating foam?

Thanks

I've replaced the cooling section before, not an easy DIY but doable. Since then it's worked better than new, been about 5 years I think. Bought one advertise on the web as "Amish" made claim that tubes are heavier gage, not sure I believe either but it works and they were easy to deal with.
