Generator choices

I need to buy a generator to work on a jobsite really soon. I need to power my Lincoln 230VAC which draws around 25 amps. Mostly it will be for camping.

Obviously, a good 7500-watt stand alone genset will do it, but they are too loud for lots of campgrounds. Is there a reasonably priced inverter style generator that offers 230VAC and 20-30 amp service? When I go camping, I'd like to have a quiet genset but I'm not sure it's worth it.

I've got a nice new Champion 3100 electric-remote start and it runs my 15000 btu AC just fine. Quiet, has wheels, but is nearly 100 lbs.

Down here we call those jackhammers. About as welcome in a campground as a loaded polecat.

I have a Champion generator, it fits in the back of the truck, with the tonneau cover closed if needed, and powers my refrigerator and HVAC if needed. it's not a Honda, but has electric start, so I can start and stop it from inside the camper, is quieter than a jobsite generator. We found ours on sale for about $300.

A pair of these in parallel will work for you. Won't break the bank and not as noisy as an open frame generator.

My Lion's Club just bought two of these from Home Depot at just over 1K each. They are dual fuel and work off propane. I own two honda 2000 and they are the same as far as being quiet. How long the Stator lasts who knows.

Call Paul Sr or Paul Jr, I forget where Paul Jr lives, Paul Sr lives in Glendora CA. Nice guys great customer service and super products. These are not the old open frame generators of years gone past, they are really guiet. I'm very happy with my 2000 and keep it full of gass and in the rig.

I have a honda 7000eu and it is a great unit. It's fuel injected and has a push button start. The only thing missing is remote start. It will run both of my a/c's a 15k and 13.5k plus water heater without tripping. On a hot day it will use a tank of fuel in about 10hrs.

I don't think a single 2000W inverter gen will run my AC if I'm without shore power (and that might be important down here). I'm trying to avoid buying two different generators.
If you need air get hookups.

X2 on the Hondas
I have two of the 2000Eu's
One is pretty much all we use and switch between them to keep even hours on both.
Both Hondas only run together when running Ac.

I tried using a generator with a 240v welder once. According to the book it should have worked but the generator couldn't handle the current when striking the arc. And it was a Honda, not inverter either.

Short term job I would rent a gas powered welder, Miller Bobcat comes to mind. Long term I would just buy it and sell it when finished. The right tool for the job. Buy something small and quiet for your RV. A jobsite generator at a campground is about as welcome as a family of polecats.

You would be smart to get different generators. Get the contractors version you need for your 240v welder, and get something more suitable for camping. Not sure of your long term job needs, but consider just renting something for your welding.

Another benefit of Hondas are their very long lifespan. If taken care of they just do not seem to wear out.

It does not seem that that set-up (and so many others, too) will provide 230VAC for my welder. Until you get way up in price and capacity, the sine wave gensets are all 120VAC.

Nope !

Then you will need a second generator.
