generator storage

Just got a Yamaha 2000is and have it in the bed of the pickup. Of course I would never use it in the trailer but is it sealed well enough to carry it in a basement storage compartment? The gas cap seals when not running and I can always shut off the fuel and run it dry. Concern is gas fumes in the basement. I also have the front storage where the jack motor is.

I have sufficient room in the QuickDraw pullout tray in the basement to store both of my Yamaha EF2000iS generators side-by-side when they're not in use. With the gas caps sealed when in the "off" position, fumes aren't a problem.

I put both my Hondas in the front storage compartment of my FW, plus some other stuff. Only problem I have is getting them out when I'm feeling weak, that lip is a little too high for me. Have to pick up the gen in both arms to lift over the lip, just using the grip handle on the top is a little bit much for me. However, when I get it in, I make sure the gas cap is switched to off so no fumes leak out, and so far, no gas smell.

Same with the Champion 2000i. Gas cap has a lock that seals it, so no fumes there. We just make sure to shut off the fuel and run the carb dry before stowing away. Never had a problem.

Yes, it is made for this. We put our Honda EU in the bathroom while traveling.

Yes, that's fine. Do it all the time with my Honda. I do get gas smell from time to time, but that's from the accumulation of gas drips when filling. Sometimes I'll cover it with a large garbage bag until I can thoroughly clean it.
