How much does it cost to replace old carpet with new?

The carpet in my 2001 Cougar 276 EFS is looking really bad. I need to sell my trailer and I think the carpet will be a big turnoff for buyers. Has anyone ever had the carpet replaced in their trailer? Where did you have it done and can you tell me approximately what it costs? My guess it the carpet shouldn't cost to much because there isn't a lot in the trailer. But the installation costs could be high.

Do you have this done at an RV service place or can you just contact a carpet guy to do it?

Appreciate any info.

I just had my carpet replaced in the lounge area including the 2 slide-outs. They also replaced the carpet on the steps going to the bedroom/bath area. The total cost was $805. They put down new heavier padding, better quality carpet and installed it with tack strips instead of millions of staples. As stated above, it did take them a few days to get the edged bound for the slide-out pieces. They did a great job. It really looks nice.

I had a flooring company do the job for me.

I will check with some local carpet companies tomorrow and see what I can find. If it is $1200 I will just sell it like it is. I will also see if I can get a corner up and see if these is linoleum underneath. If so, I will just pull up the old carpet and leave it with the linoleum as long as it is in decent shape.

Check with your local "Flooring stores" cost will depend on size & the carpet picked out........ depends on the store but they may have a remnant & not be too bad..... The guy that did our house floors does RVs all the time.......

We picked out the carpet (and kitchen floor linoleum) at a 'flooring store' and then made arrangements with an independent installer.

Installer picked up the flooring material from store and then came out to CG site and did install. Carpet pieces for the two living room slide-outs were cut to fit and then he took them to have edges bound. Came back 3 days later and finished install.

The biggest time consumer was removing the 1000 stables used by factory install on padding and binding of edges for slide-outs.

Total bill for removal, linoleum, carpet, padding, binding and install for flooring in kitchen, living room and two slide-outs was $1200.

Hard to recoup from a sale........be up front with buyers and discount sale price.

If you are going to sell, you might lift a corner of the carpet and see if there in linoleum underneath. Often the manufacturers, lay linoleum first over the entire floor, and build on top of that, including the walls.

We removed the carpet in our unit to reveal the vinyl flooring underneath. Just a lot of work because those guys use millions of staples. They seem to think that if one staple is good, then ten staples will be ten times better. LOL

My work site had thrown out a hugh floor worth of excellent commercial carpet squares... I scronged up all the deep blues and greens to use in my trailer floor. Turned out great for me to put the blues on the floor and the greens under my tent bed ends...

Turned out to be a nice install using the squares???

The downside for me however being an OFF-ROAD camper I never saw so much leaves and forest floor things showing up on the floor before. When they were vinyl floors never noticed it before.

Still made things alot warmer for us...

Have no idea what that would cost to replace...
