Keystone Cougar road side propane pigtail

I replaced a leaking propane pigtail on my Cougar on the curb side that connected to one side of the regulator.( 1/4 in. inverted flair) No problem. The road side pigtail is rock hard so I tried to replace it. Bought the same pigtail and the fitting is different that connects to the black pipe that crosses over to the regulator. Took the old hose and new hose to Ace Hdwr. O'Reilly auto parts, and a local "hose" shop. No one could adapt the 1/4 in male on the pigtail to the 3/8 male(FNTP?) on the pipe.I can not be the first guy that changed this pigtail on a Keystone? Help
Thanks

Good advice.
I did just that one time and the hose they made was heavier, not made in China and was even cheaper than the ready made parts.
