Keystone Everest

Going to look at a 2007 Keystone Everest 293P on Monday as a replacement for our current trailer. Anyone have any advice or reflections on this unit, good or bad? Our Avion is starting to turn into a moneypit and we are looking to cut our losses. This looks like a good move upwards. Thanks

We have a 2006 293P and pull it with the same rig as you except a long bed. You will have no problem pulling it. Other than replacing the slide out resettable breakers we have had zero problems and we love it.

Nutin:

It's the 293P, 32 feet, no washer-dryer, which is fine and came with a sidewinder. I don't know if that is good or bad, never had one before. We have a short bed but a slider, which we are comfortable using. We only rarely need it. We should be in it tomorrow. The dealer is putting on a hitch receiver for our bike rack and replacing the awning fabric and put in a new battery as part of the deal. Thanks for the good wishes.

Well, we did it. We saw the unit today and after climbing, crawling and every way in between we pulled the trigger. It is the 07 we went to see in Georgia. It was lightly used and in nice shape. The dealer will be putting on a hitch for our bike rack and replacing the awning fabric. It does not have a washer-dryer which is fine with us.

They'll make sure every system works, pull the bearings and lube and detail it. They are offering an extended warranty but I don't know about that. Price was 19,960 plus our 22 year-old Avion. All the numbers seemed to work. Wish us luck!

We have an 08 rear entertainment and really like it. We bought it from a dealer and fortunately we got the 3 year warranty. The fridge dumpt right away. The tires were bald on the inside edge that I missed, and so did the 600.00 fee for the dealer ,that charged to check it all out. The axels were also bent. I then painted the frame with por15 and found a plate welded on the frame just behind the wheel springs on both beams. So the warranty covered new axles, fridge rebuilt, new tires bought. If you do buy ,check out all these very good. I learned the hard way. We have had it a couple years and so far so good with all the repairs completed and nothing new cropping up. Good luck

Almost all of the newer model Everest's have the washer-dryer in the bedroom. Add a forward A/C to that and the pin/hitch weight will rise considerable. It's one of the main reasons we went with the 15K A/C option other than two 13.5K units. On our older model the washer-dryer is on the main floor level just forward of the axles - see pix below.

We got our Everest new in 2003. I don't think I would want to spend much time in it in cold weather even though it has a completely insulated underbelly. We've been in the high teens to mid 20s with it for short periods - less than two weeks - and it's very hard to keep warm. On the other hand the single 15K A/C has always kept it cool even out west in some summer months.

Other than that we still have it because we like it and have installed many upgrades to make it more comfortable to live in.

On edit: I just noticed you have a 2500 truck. Our pin weight is always around 2500# - 2700#.

I ran across this floorplan in my search for the king bed we had to have. Absolutely love the lay out and it was top of the line for Keystone. Good insulation and pretty nicely made for Keystone. Solid cabinetry and lots of upgrades. The name never caught on and they changed it to Alpine in 2009.

This was our Golden Unicorn per sey.... Searched for a year and a half.

Drove to 4 different states to find a good one at a decent price. Finally ended up with one 1300 miles away. Flew up, checked it out, drove up with the truck and took it home.

It was very tough finding one in good shape. Don't know if it was the previous owners?... Most of them we found had badly bent hangers. Couple of them had cracks in the frame above the hangers. A couple had twisted frames and the kitchen was pulled away from the wall. Some with roof cracking and bubbling.

Check for these items mostly, and also frame cracks below the bedroom slide, outside at the L.

We found a peach. it was worth the wait and frustration. Love our coach!

If you are towing with your "06", double check your weight calculations. It is pretty nose heavy, especially with washer/ dryer, clothes, king bed, etc. That's why we changed to our DRW 2007.

Let us know how it turns out. Good luck in your quest. Safe travels!

Keystone can produce units that are money pits as well so look very carefully. Also check the tires, suspension and frame!

We're full-timing in our '08 Everest and all is well. We've drug it all over the country in the last 18 months we've owned it and no problems. Great trailer.
