Kingpin lock

Did a search for Kingpin lock and King Pin Lock here and got no hits, so I'll just ask.

What pin locks are recommended? I don't feel especially comfortable with no deterrent on there. I also don't want something cheap, like the Reese ball hitch lock that anyone with a bar can snap off in seconds.

Conversely, I don't want to drop several hundred dollars on a lock that isn't worth that much.

Input appreciated. Thanks.

Personally, if I were =truly= concerned about theft, I'd have an alarm system and/or a hidden self-contained GPS unit on-board with cell capability to "call home".

I use the same one. With grandkids that run before looking it provides a warning to them more that I’m concerned about theft.

the good things about the one that I posted...it keeps the greasy area covered and has a flag to help avoid walking or driving into the king pin.

I’m part of the crowd that isn’t toooo concerned about it. Still, I do put a padlock on my EZ Chocks so it would take a “little” effort. If this was a serious concern, I think a ‘boot’ on one of the wheels would be best deterrent AND best real prevention.

You're probably not wrong about that.

I had a few early moments where I wanted to park it without it being hooked up and without slides out, as it would be in storage. That's what made me think about it. I agree it's far less likely when you're fully deployed.

Still, I spent the $30 for a lock. No harm. Cheaper than the $200 locks and I'll sleep 1% better. 🙂

I also use a sleeve whenever I finish setting up (I store in the back yard behind locked gates) because it makes DW feel better.

I had one like that, but let it go with my old FW. Shoulda kept it and just put a better lock on it. =Anything= is better'n nothing.

Uhh, the USA?

Honestly, I probably don't "need" one, but it only takes once. Better safe than sorry and all that.

When full-timing, this goes beyond our 'rv' and becomes our 'home'. I'd hate to find out it was going down the highway behind someone else's truck. 🙂
